“Wonderful Highly Recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Accomodation is clean and comfortable.
Food is Gourmet especially the pasta.
Dave and Nola are so helpful and happy to make your holiday a good one they go out of their want it to be. We were a large family group of 14 and nothing was too hard for this resort.
Highly recommended to everyone as value for money and a great destination.

Room Tip: The chiefs house is amazing large spacious and cool

“OK but could be so much better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We had 10 nights at Benjor and while we enjoyed our holiday there is definitely room for improvement.

Positives: Managers and staff were lovely. Halfway through our baby became ill and the manager dropped what he was doing to drive us to the hospital in Port Villa (at least half an hour away). The grounds are beautiful, well-maintained, and the snorkelling off the beach was good. The pool was great, although they could do with a sunshade. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the setting itself is lovely. The staff are great with kids and were very sweet, remembering my sons name and offering to carry him while we ate. They also made a point of having a table ready for us with a high chair every morning which was a nice touch and deserves mentioning.

Negatives: The rooms are tired and in need of a paint. We had an insect infestation and had to move. The room we moved to had stairs and we noticed that the hand rails were seriously unsafe (wobbly and rickerty) and our 3 year old could get through the bars of the banister. We pointed this out to the manager so hopefully this issue has been dealt with.

All the appliances are old and shabby, we talked to another guest who got electric shocks every time she touched the fridge.
DVD's were of poor quality and we were charged $5 for them. Surely an act of goodwill would be to make them free to guests.
The charge for use of the kayaks was disappointing and the snorkelling gear that is available is completely useless (glass bottom boogie boards that you can't through).
Travel is tricky as the buses don't always want to travel to Benjor because it is out of the way.

In short, the Benjor staff, food and location counter-balanced it's serious need of a spruce up.

I probably wouldn't recommend to families with babies and toddlers until they get some air-conditioning, sunshades and fix the banisters.

“Could be so much better.”

Pros: A beautiful location with beautiful grounds, private, coral reef at your doorstep. Cons: No air conditioning in a very hot sticky climate, no free kayak equipment use - instead pay $20/hr to some other company on site, snorkeling gear for use completely ruined and useless, difficult access to anywhere else (irregular mini buses which are pretty bad), rats seen in both restaurant and apartment, tv has no reception and is a seriously old picture tube - can rent DVDs for $3 each though, stereo was broken, mysteriously received a dirty second hand microwave half way through our stay, floor tiles were sticky, sheets were thin - low quality and not changed in over a week.
All things aside, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hosts are really nice. With a little more attention to detail addressing above cons, this place would be perfect.

“Relaxing stay over Christmas break”

Our party of seven stayed in the five bedroom chiefs villa, which was great for a large group.
It is in a private location away from the other villas set in private gardens with a private beach
in front with lovely ocean views, beautiful clean warm water, although reef shoes are a must.
as the dead coral is a little hard on the feet.
This villa could do with a makeover as the shabby tired furniture let it down, a fresh white paint job and some tropical art work on the walls would be a big improvement. It was a little like staying in a holiday home where the old furniture and pictures had been placed , less is more, tiny
TV to small for a large room.A few small improvements could make this special.

“Review of restaurant only”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

We have just returned from dinner, it was amazing, mud crab so big it was piled 20 cms high on the plate, my husband had the coconut crab, just as yummy, we are staying at a holiday house 4 houses down so location was perfect, we had a sticky beak around the grounds and they looked lovely, the beach is the same as we have here, as there was a cyclone last year a lot of the coral was killed, it is on the mend and if you snorkel out a little further it is pretty, however there is no sand, the rooms looked "hot" having no air conditioning here would make it impossible to sleep, there is no way we would stay anywhere that's not fully air conditioned, this is our 4th visit to Vanuatu and the humidity gets us every time, ceiling fans wouldn't cut it except in aust winter.
