“Lived up to our expectations, and more!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012 via mobile

My wife and I stayed 5 nights at Tamanu in February, and had an amazing time.

We had an ocean-view cottage (but in reality, all the cottages have a beautiful view of the ocean, just some are right on the beach and others are set back slightly).

The cottages are beautiful and the friendly staff make it a joy to come to breakfast every morning.

We hired bikes and snorkels to visit the local turtle bay, which was a lot of fun, but mainly just relaxed by the beach and in out cottage.

Thanks to the folks at Tamanu for making it such a great holiday!

“Dinner and cabaret show- a MUST”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Last Saturday we went to Tamanu for dinner and a cabaret show.

Wow, what a fantastic night! We drove home raving about it, dreamt about it and have woken up still saying ‘ how good was that?’. Thank you, thank you, thank you – for the concept, the food, the location, the service and the entertainment.

Tamanu scheduled a second show with performer Stewart Ryan (watch out for him, he's off to wow London and stardom!) after the first was a sell-out. We were lucky to miss out on the first show. Lucky, because for the second show only, the resort manager, Rachael, joined Stewart in a couple of duets and brought the house down. A hidden talent resident in our midst.

Together, the Tamanu team have given us a Vanuatu memory to be recalled and enjoyed for the rest of our lives.

Stewart is lost to our shores while he builds his career elsewhere but we’re already eagerly awaiting Rachael’s Vanuatu solo debut. If you get the chance, get to Tamanu.

“4 days of bliss”

My partner and I stayed here over the christmas period for 4 nights. I found this place about 5 years ago when we came here for lunch. At that time I vowed to return and stay in one of the beach front cottages.
We arrived on Christmas eve, and were met at the airport and taken to the resort via the local supermaket for some room supplies. This is a great idea as the location is a good 25 minute drive to town, on some rather bumpy roads. Once you are at the resort, and experience the ambience, the great food and service, and the solitude, you won't really want to travel too far.
The meals at the restaurant are superb, and the outlook over the ocean at sunset is just magic. The bungalows are tastefully decorated, and spacious, the outdoor bathrooms have been recently renovated. It is very quiet, so take some good books and get ready to unwind.
The beach is a mixture of sand and coral, so take those reef shoes along, there is a great swimming spot about 20 minutes walk east of the resort, right at the end of the beach, deep water and protected.
The only thing I would suggest is to take one of those plug in mosquito repellants for the evenings in your cabin. There are nets provided over the bed.
I would thoroughly recommend this resort for couples/honeymooners/ and those wanting to unwind. We certainly did.

Room Tip: Our room was called Bouganvillia, it would have to be the pick of the huts. However I don't thi...

“Heaven on Earth”

Heaven On Earth is how the team at Tamanu describe this jewel in the crown of resorts in Vanuatu, and boy, did they hit the nail on the head!.
We had five nights there and from Seth the driver who picked us up from the airport to Rachel, the resort manager, and all all her team were absolutely fantastic. We were in a Plantation Cabin which was just delightful. Being on the windward side of the island there was always a cooling breeze. Nothing was too much trouble for the team at Tamanu. If you want a holiday to recharge your batteries or go on long walks or swim or just relax reading or sleeping, then this is the place for you. The romantic dinner we had on the beach edge was incredible, with our dedicated waitress always being there when needed, but never in the way.The only thing that I need to advise is that the food at Tamanu, prepared by Matt, is so good that you will need to go on the long walks! The food is the best we have had in Vanuatu by a long way. Good on you Matt, and I love your COLD BLUE STEAK. We can't recommend Tamanu more highly other than to say that they will have to put up with us in April this year for 4 days and then again in December for a week!

Room Tip: Premium Beachfront Cottages are great as they have a separate lounge room.

“Paradise.”

As a group of 6 friends we set of for Tamanu hoping to experience a fun relaxed and interesting time. This was certainly achieved and more. From being met at the airport by Mario who safely drove us out to this piece of paradise.....the dirt road in is a little challenging, to the lovely ladies who seem to slip in and out of your bungalows leaving everything tidy and clean to the lovely local children who happily smile and wave when they see you but never come into your space , everything was great. Rachael the manager is an absolute asset to the owners of this property with nothing being too hard for her, and she always greets you with a bright friendly smile and manner. The food at the restaurant was top quality and no more expensive than eating in restaurants at home. Rachael sorted out tours for us and her advise on which ones to do turned out to be excellent, with our days full of once in a lifetime experiences , magnificent waterfalls and day trips on Yachts. We walked and rode bikes to the nearby blue lagoon, which was yet another wonderful day, in fact we all agreed we need to return to just do nothing next time and take advantage of the amazing paradise on the doorstep of your bungalow. The views and the amazing coloured waters are spectacular. I would recommend this Resort to anyone especially if you are not looking for high rise and kids clubs etc. The only thing I would like to see added to the property is a pool as it is a little tricky to swim out the front due to the shells and extreme tides which are very low at times and this would be a welcome sight after a long walk or ride. The bungalows are unique and very comfortable, with great beds and pillows, which are a real neccesity for an enjoyable break away from the comforts of home. The indoor outdoor bathrooms are a real experience that you soon become used to,plenty of fresh air! Their is internet connection and phone reception in the restaurant so you can still check in at home if you desire. Overall this was one of the happiest and most enjoyable breaks we have ever had.Thankyou Rachael and all the staff at Tamanu.

Room Tip: There are only 6 bungalows, some are bigger than others so ask about this when booking if you would...
