our family first visited this hotel in 2007 and again with another family of four in Nov 2010. Both times we stayed in an Executive suite on the 11th floor. There are two bedrooms in these suites, the Master has a king bed (very very comfy) and a balcony overlooking the race track, very pleasant. The other has two single beds both have plenty of storage in the built in wardrobes. There is a bathroom with a handy separate toilet. There is a laundry a kitchen with basic cooking utensils a cooktop and a microwave. There is a dining table, and a lounge with a foldout double bed. The standout feature however is the large balcony off the lounge with magical views over the Anse Vata, Baie des Citron and beautiful Noumea harbour....simply stunning. The hotel has a very nice pool with artificial beach, plenty of sunlounges and great poolside dining and bar service from the restaurant near it. The staff are warm, friendly and obliging. As you would expect French is the prime language, not english. The staff and New Caledonians alike really appreciate it if you make an effort to speak french even a token attempt, will return warm generosity and sincere kindness....try it!! We had room service dinners and poolside dining on many occassions and found the food and service to be of a very high standard and quality. My tip however is to walk into Port Plaisance (leisurly 20mins by the water) to the Casino supermarche, where you can source the most amazing produce. We regularly went to get our baguettes, french unpasteurised cheeses, homemade pates and terrines and bottles of fantastic french wines. We bought beautiful meats, poultry and charcuterie which we prepared in our hotel kitchen. This was a real highlight. The surrounds around the hotel are quaint and picturesque. There is a wonderful walk to the top of Ouen Toro which takes approx 30mins but well worth it for the commanding views. You can catch a bus into Noumea on the town red buses which are very cheap and easy to use. The town has lots of shops and many restaurants and bars, but i prefer the area around Anse Vata and Baie des citrons, loads of great restaurants, bars and shopping; and of course the wonderful water views. There is a great little restaurant around the corner from the Ramada called Miretti Gascon and they specialise in French Seafood, its as cute as a button with rather quaint old fashioned service and delicious meals...very french!!! The other family we travelled with equally enjoyed their experience at the Ramada and would return for another stay without hesitation. As for us we enjoyed both stays very much and agree that it is time perhaps; if not already happened that a spruce up will be needed before too long. I am looking forward to another visit and would always book rooms on the higher levels to get that great great view. Ill be back, Ramada plaza for sure.
Room Tip: book top floor for great views and don't be shy to speak basic french they'll appreciate it.
