“Large apartment in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Having read previous Tripadvisor reviews, we opted for a 14th floor two bedroom apartment on the Baie de Citron side for the 8 day holiday. We we not disappointed. We (four adults) had plenty of space in a very large apartment with great balcony and views. I would agree that the kitchen is not so well appointed with cooking utensils, but it has enough to do breakfast and perhaps an easy lunch. Who would want to cook dinner with some many restaurants and bars close by? The pool is noy very good but the beaches nearby are clean and safe.
Hotel reception staff were somewhat indifferent in attitude but not plainly rude. Other than its apartment size, the other asset of the hotel is its location straddling Anse Vata and Baie de Citron. All bars and restaurants on both beach strips were in easy walking distance from the hotel. Remember buses stop running from about 7.00pm and getting taxis is problematic going to further away places. There are few taxi drivers willing to work at night due to issues with assaults and rock throwing at taxis.
Noise from late night opening bars was not a real issue from our high up apartment, though during the New Year period and at all hours, the locals liked to drive up and down the main strip in their large SUVs with specially fitted 'boom boxes' blasting out rubbish music. Annoying but bearable.
Lastly, we would highly recommend the day trip to Amedee Island and lighthouse for the crusie, swimming, snorkelling, lunch and the sea snakes!

Room Tip: High up on the Baie de Citron side (away from the prevailing winds). Higher up also means less noise...

“Great 2 bedroom apartment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Fantastic view of the Bay of Citron, very spacious 2 bedroom apartment, good size kitchen, washing machine, great terrace w/ dining and lounging area, 2 comfy chaise lounge. Within walking distance of great restaurants and the aquarium.
We did not experience any problems there, previous comments talked of noise, we were on the 14th floor and did not hear any street noise or noise from other tenants.
Bedrooms are air conditionned, living area is not, good breeze from the bay though.
We would definitely stay there again.
On the week end the area is a party hub so there could be a lot of traffic on the main road but the hotel has free parking on site.
Apparently some units were renovated recently so ask when you make a reservation.

“Great place but missing some small details”

This was a great choice for our stay in noumea. The rooms are big and comfortable and also very clean. The kitchen was a little under-equipped and even though they told us to ask if we needed extra utensils, we were told there were none when we asked. Also a little annoying that we arrived 3 hours after check in time and still had to wait half an hour while they prepared the room. Amazing location and good rooms so overall a good option.

“Very Noisy area, reception staff rude but rooms spacious with great view.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

I took my Mum and Nana here. We stayed 5 nights and I will not stay here again. We arrived at Casa Del Sole at 1pm after traveling since 6am with my 81 year old Nana. They had not cleaned our room and told us to wait but did not give us a time, and frankly they were very rude about it. Not the sort of welcome you would expect.
At 2pm after sitting in the lobby for an hour - i enquired about our apartment. I was told 'not ready yet' so i asked "when will it be ready? because my Nana is very tired" and she just shrugged her shoulders! I became annoyed at this point and they finally let us up to our room with no apology.
Apartment was very spacious and was furnished - very basically though. We were on level 14 out of 16 and had great views. The kitchen appliances were obviously well used (rust, broken) and some basic things like a can opener were missing altogether. We found that a number of lights had their bulbs blown and my nana can not see very well once it starts to get dark. It took two days to get all the blown bulbs replaced.
When we would enquire about activities, bus routes and general information we felt like we were annoying them and they would reluctantly phone places for us (we dont speak french).
My nana wanted to go on the tram that goes around Noumea and the manager told us information about it and what times it goes and what days. We asked if she could ring a taxi for us and when we got down to the wharf to go on the tram...it doesnt go on Thursdays! We went to the Info office down the road and apparently this is common knowledge! We went to the cultural centre and the gardens instead. When we got back to the apartment - i asked why she didnt tell us about it being shut on a Thursday and she just shrugged!!!!! Not impressed. Nobody working in the Casa Del Sole seems to give a toss about tourists and helping them out, especially when your traveling with an 81 year old dear wee lady.
To top off our holiday...everynight from 10pm-3am we could not sleep properly because of the booming noise from the bars below and the constant screaming and yahooing from Drunk people.
Do not stay here, it was a waste of money and energy. We were all so tired when we got home because we never managed to get a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: Dont stay here

“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

Just returned from 9 nights. The front desk staff and housekeeping were helpful. All the front desk staff spoke good English. Our 1 bedroom apartment was large and by far the largest bedroom we've had in similar type apartments around the world. We got a look in a two bedroom and they are really large. Our room had a big balcony with lots of space for recliners and table and chairs. We requested an apartment on the Baie de Citrons side as we had heard about the wind in other reviews. Lucky we did because it absolutely blew on the Anse Vata side for 7 days. Not really much late noise from the bars on Baie de Citrons (we were on the 14th floor) even though one of the nights was the Rugby World Cup final. For transfers would recommend Christian at transportmc@lagoon.nc A private van to the airport was 4,000francs for 2 of us. Our bus from the airport had been 6,000francs for two of us.
Would stay here again no problem.

Room Tip: Higher up for the view and on the Baie de Citrons side
