“Extraordinary Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

The Lancaster House was a G-d send during our recent family trip to Bogota. We have special dietary needs and the hotel made arrangements to accommodate each one of them. We are a large family and the suite was rearranged to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Whatever we needed was quickly delivered and most importantly always with a smile and happiness to serve the customer. We left very, very satisfied and already planning our return trip to Bogota and Lancaster House.

“Nice Hotel in a decent location for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I stayed at the Lancaster for 2 nights the end January and I thought it was a nice, clean, well-maintained hotel with a good breakfast buffet for the price ($90 per night).

The hotel is in Northern Bogota, which is about 20 minutes by cab from the historical district but only 5 minutes from a couple of restaurant plazas that were pretty lively.

The staff is nice but not very knowledgeable about sights and could not give me much in the way of recommendations for food. They are a bit disorganized with airport shuttle & check-in. I called the afternoon I was scheduled to arrive (late-night arrival) and asked if I would be able to get a taxi easily from the airport, the hotel rep I spoke with told me she could schedule a shuttle to pick me up at the airport and it would be about $25,000 COP (approx $14 USD). I agreed. When I arrived there was no car in sight. (As a side note: The airport was a madhouse)I grabbed a cab for $35,000 (COP) and when I got to the hotel and told the front desk person there was no shuttle, he simply apologized with no further explanation. No big deal. As long as I was not charged for it, I was fine with it. He assured me i would not be. He then checked me in and requested a bell boy to come help me to my room. He was nice and explained how everything worked but neglected to give me a key to the safe and my room! I had to call the front desk, then go downstairs and remind them again. I waited for about 5 minutes and was given a key. I asked while waiting for my key if he could also call a cab to take me to get some food as it was almost 11pm. He said he would, then proceeded to chat on the phone with someone whom I surmised was not the cab co. Once that call was over he picked up the phone again to call the cab co. I waited for about 15 mins for a cab that should have taken 5 mins to arrive. Again, no big deal except I was starving as was told restaurants stop serving at midnight.

This was my only real issue. Be aware that you will not receive a printout of your final bill. Even if you ask. They will show you the bill but you don't get to keep it.

“Excellent Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Fastio and Lorena both speak fluent English. The Hotel is clean and all the staff are incredibly helpful. I arrived in Bogata quite sick. Lorena called a Dr. to my room, translated my english to the Dr. - Dr. diagnosed me and perscriped med's which Lorena went out and purchased for me!! She wrote Dr.'s instructions out for me in english and as I was travelling alone, Lorena had staff members check on me every 2 hours to make sure I was ok. I don't know what I would have done without Lorena - she was definelty my life saver!
The level of service at the Lancaster is EXCELLENT - they will find you the cheapest flight to whereever you want to travel to. They will arrange for a Taxi to pick you up at the airport which is Fabulous as the airport is extremely busy. I Highly Recommend this Hotel. Tracey Scanlan, Canada

“Exceeded Expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

The Lancaster House represents excellent value.

Negatives
1) The only nit-picking criticism I can mention is that some of the furniture is dated. That said, an argument exists that this contributes to the character of the hotel.

Positives
1) The staff are exceptionally friendly and exceedingly helpful. As but one example, when I asked where I could find a small convenience store, one of the staff walked two blocks with me to be certain I found it.
2) The hotel is located one block from the Trans Milenio, which is a convenient form of transport as long as it's not accessed during rush hours.
3) The suites are actually suites, with the lowest priced options composed of a kitchen, living room, and bedroom complete with stereo system and flat screen tv.
4) The staff.

I highly recommend this hotel.

I spent a few good days in Bogota recently. My stay at Lancaster House was part of the nice memories I take back with me. Nice people, very nice rooms, great food. I was quite surprised with the spaces and the decor. A unique property!
