I travel every month to Bogota for business, I always stay in this hotel. Great service, the rooms are always clean and comfortable, and the whole place makes me feel like at home. Excellent security and very convenient location. No wonder a couple of top European airlines have their crews staying in this hotel.

They offer me a "Romantic plan" including:
1 dinner, 375cc wine bottle, roses on bed and BF or Brunch on next day.

You can get better service, better food and newest restaurants, lobby and common areas in other hotels. For example; Sonesta Hotel across the 127 Street.

I had my camera IN my case IN my backpack underneath at least a dozen things and I never took it out or used it while in Bogota. I left my backpack in the room the whole time. I had it on me riding the cab back to the airport and I also had it on me when I was in the airport. My backpack was never searched and it wasn't until I came home that I noticed my camera was missing. The hard case was zipped closed, I went to open it and it was empty. Do not stay at this hotel unless you like your valuables being stolen. I have tried to contact management and have left voicemails and e-mails but I never hear back (it's been two weeks). The other annoying thing is that they charged me (illegally!!!) for an additional tax (I have a foreign passport) and told me I'd get it back at the airport. I took the receipt to the DIAN and they said they do not reimburse hotel taxes! As if that was not enough, the room smelled musty, the tiles in the bathroom were chipped or cracked and I kept being bothered by staff who wanted to know if I wanted to do laundry (I will call you if I do) and if I wanted my curtains closed (no, i can do it myself, thank you).
I do not understand how this is a five-star hotel and do not recommend you stay here under any circumstances!!

This is a hotel that could be named "Almost great". The rooms are fine in size but the first one had a cigarette smell although it was offered as smoke free. They claim to be a 5 start local, but there is just one phone besides the bed, none on the desk and the paid wifi was intermittent. The breakfast is good, but not quite great and the attention is spotty. It is not cheap and the location is fine if you are going to the mall across the street, but on the other hand you will hear from taxi drivers that the intersection is about the worst in Bogota and you will find out why soon enough. There is always something that makes you say "it is almost great, but..." The saddest thing is that with just a little push they would make the mark, but it does not happen. There are many good hotel offerings in Bogota now, many boutique hotels. The Fontana is missing its target and make you start wander away.
