I have been a repeat customer of this hotel for a few years and usually stay there when I am travelling solo. This time I was travelling with my partner and since we were staying a few days we wanted a larger room. They gave us a dismal room with a view of the offices in the next building. Keep in mind that since this is Bogota there is no real need for air conditioning, so you need to rely on leaving the window open during the day........... which is not so convenient when you have people staring in at you from only 20 - 30 feet away. I was told that there were no other rooms available that night but they would try to move us the next day. I asked a few times and they seemed totally disinterested in doing anything. I would expect that from other hotels but not one which I have been staying at for years (keep in mind that I tip very well). I just stopped asking.
One thing that stood out is that I need to print and send a fax and was having difficulty. The concierge and front desk receptionist went out of their way to help me get it done (they spent over half an hour on it). On the other hand I was looking for a dentist and got no help at all.
The hotel itself is quite nice and the breakfast buffet is excellent. Some of the staff go out of their way to help you while others are a little indifferent. Laundry service is fast but room service has gotten quite slow........... but the food is very good.
I would not stay in the same room again (307) and would pay the higher prices at the Hilton (up the street) if I was in the same position again. The only reason we did not move this time is that we were out late most nights and did not wake up early enough to be out by noon and were not in any condition to move.
All in all it is still a good choice and you cannot beat their prices. The location is great. However a little loyalty to old clients would be kind of nice.
