“Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

We have been in Posada de Piedra for one week in November and it was absolutely great. The house is one of the most beautiful houses I have ever seen. The interior is so beautiful and stylish - simply great. The rooms are suites and really spacious and wonderful. It is a peaceful and totally quite place where you can relax and just enjoy the sun at the pool. Or you go to one of all the beaches between Punta del Este and Jose Ignacio. It is a beautiful coast. But you need to have a car to go to Posada de Piedra and to get around. The owner Hugo will give you many good ideas for restaurants if you find him. Hugo and his wife Dolores are really nice and friendly but they are not around very often. So if you see them just ask and they will be very helpful. Apart from them the staff at the Posada is always around and so nice. They do whatever you need and make this place so special. Although they only speak spanish we got along perfectly. If we would travel to Punta del Este again we would definitely come back!

“nice place, hard to find, lack of personality in service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2011

Definitely a nice place to stay. However finding it is quite hard. There are no signs on the road. You have to drive on dirt roads for quite some time to get there. The sourroundings are beautiful just like the rooms. Service is a little below average. More annoying is the lack of hospitality, no owner to meet you upon arrival and/or to help you with dinner reservations. The staff only speaks spanish. Breakfast is a little basic.

“Fabulous stay...however...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2011

This place is gorgeous and well-decorated. The suites are comfortable and it's definitely off the beaten path and relaxing. The breakfast is ample, though you should be specific about what you want and other guests went as far as shopping for the whole fruits that they wanted, handed it over to the cook and it was served in the mornings.

Two things we absolutely hated. They take cash only. This was in the finest print at the very bottom of the confirmation we received and we were not reminded of this at all over the three days until we went to check out and then had to chase down an ATM. (NOT EASY as the place is about 20 minutes from Punta) If you're spending $225 USD a night, you would think they could process a credit card.

Second, it is near impossible to locate this place. Do not trust google maps. I am uploading a map on the back of their business cards that conveniently, they don't give you until you arrive.

“LOVED our experience here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2009

I just returned from my stay here and all I can say is WOW! The setting is spectacular and we stayed in the master suite on the second floor that has views of the countryside and the beach. The staff was amazing and very attentive and the decor and landscaping are perfect. The ultimate place to relax and although it is remote (on a dirt road) you are only 5-10 minutes from La Barra which is the best part of Punta and only 15 minutes to Jose Ignacio. The owners do speak English so not sure about previous reviews? I would definitely return!
