I did not stay at Las Cunbres but had lunch in the restaraunt. Las Cumbres sits at the top of a hill with a panoramic view. Look to your right and you see Laguna del Sauce and Pan Azucar (Sugar Loaf), to your left is Punta, and straight ahead is the sea. I had an early lunch in the Las Cumbres restaraunt. I ate inside becuase the wind was still howling but they do have patio seating. I ordered risotto with chicken and mushrooms in a light broth. This was served with piping hot mini baguets to sop up the broth. I had a mini bottle of tannat, a bottle of water, and a cafe served with melt in your mouth bite size cookies. Total bill was $46US. Pricey, but you are paying for the view and the exemplary service.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights for a wedding. Its situated about 8k from Punte up a long drive up a hill and into woods. Our room was in one of the units set in the woods close to the hotel. It was really spacious and comfortable with stunning views across to the coast. The hotel design was unusual using local uruguayan objects, paintings and materials which made the hotel feel really interesting and different from the norm.

Service was friendly and relaxed, if you were late for breakfast you still got served and the staff worked really hard. There was a wedding each night we were there. The food was excellent and seemed to be all cooked on site including bread and croissants for breakfast. However the lunch/dinner menu is a bit limited so if you were there for some time you would need to go into Punte.

The hotel, without a doubt, is lovely: beautifully designed, great staff, great amenities. However, we were under the impression that the hotel was in Punta del Este, when it is quite a long drive away. If you are looking for a getaway spot, away from town, this is perfect. But if you want to walk around town without a car or stay out at night, this is not the place for you. We enjoyed our stay here, breakfast was fabulous and we could watch movies in our room, but we felt somewhat confined at night since it is a long and somewhat scary drive at night up the hill to the property. You won't be disappointed with any of the hotel's features, other than its location, but it depends on what you are looking for.

I went to Punta del Este and stayed at Las Cumbre hotel. The service is great, the rooms are very nice decorated, cozy and clean. I strongly recomend it for couples and families...
