“We had a comfortable stay at this hotel”

I stayed at this hotel with some of my colleagues for a period of 5 days and during my entire stay I did not find anything to complain about this place. The location is great. We had booked a suite. It was clean, spacious enough and well maintained. I could get a beautiful view of the outside from our room. The bathroom had a hot water shower. The food was great. The staffs were friendly and warm. One should not miss the view of Sanaa from the terrace while at this hotel. It is simply wonderful. It adds more beauty to this hotel. I would like to stay here again.

“Great views of the city from the rooftop terrace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2011

The hotel is in a typical old stone house in a good location right in the middle of old Sana'a. The building has been sympathetically converted to a hotel so that it retains a lot of traditional character and rooms have traditional Yemeni furniture made of carved dark wood. On the 7th and 8th floors (there is a lift) there are rooftop terraces and a restaurant with great views over the city. Breakfast and evening meal were simple but fine. The hotel does not serve alcohol. The staff were friendly and helpful. For a fee, wi-fi is available in the lobby area and, in theory at least, on the rooftop terrace. The only negative point is the noise at night (the call to prayer at 05h00 from the nearby mosque and what seemed to be a pack of dogs barking their way round the city) but I guess these would apply to any hotel in the old city and should perhaps anyway be seen as part of the experience of staying in the historic centre.

“A delightful and gracious hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2010

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel very much. Like other visitors, I think the views from the roof are quite wonderful, and the roof, along with the location, is what makes the hotel such a good choice. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. The rooms, however, are small, and the bathrooms tiny. The rooms in the suites are more spacious but for a much higher price. The dinners were fine, but the breakfasts were a disappointment. There was little choice and the food was bland. However, who's going to Yemen for the food? The country is gorgeous, and old Sanaa is fascinating and wonderful. By all means try this hotel; it's not perfect, but it's very comfortable and brilliantly located.

“" Very good value and great location"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2010

I stayed at the hotel in April after a friend told me about it. My expectations were not very high. I wanted to stay in a small hotel that was locally owned and would display the most possible way of the Yemeni lifestyle.
The hotel has a great location. A small roof bar where you can smoke shisha at night. I was a solo traveller and met great people from all over during my stay. The front desk organized a tour with Nomadic travel. It was amazing!!! The driver spoke fluently English and i had the time of my life seeing the ancient Yemen sights of which many are under world heritage protection.
Do not expect a fancy hotel or super tidy rooms etc. It is a very low key hotel built in a very simply old arabic style. If you are the kind of traveller that is looking for a simply place in the heart of the old town of Sanaa then this is the place to go! And for 35$ a night, i think the deal is just amazing!

“The best palce to stay in the heart of the old city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2010

I booked this hotel because I heard good reputations on trip advisor but it was a good choice indeed! The scene from my hotel room was just beautiful. It's like a dream to see that magnificant view from your room and this hotel has a nice terrace on the top where you can enjoy meals while enjoying the unforgetable scenery. It's not the scenery that's great about this hotel. The rooms meets international standards and very comfortable with hot shower . The meal including the breakfast was really good served by friendly staffs. The reception was helpful and attentive and the hotel is run by a nice Italian woman, who I enjoyed a chat during my stay.
I highly recomend this hotel to those thinking of visiting the old city of Sanaa. The experience here was unforgetable and I want to come back again myself.
