The hotel itself is a little dated but overall is very comfortable. The room I stayed in was almost damp the humidity was so high but it was not a humid time of the year. The net of that issue is that the a/c wasn't working properly. I was only there for two days so I didn't give them a chance to fix it. Initially I wished I had gotten a beach hotel but given the schedule of touring we would not have had time to use a beach. It is centrally located and handy for many things. The price was excellent and secured through an on-line site.

The restaurant was very over priced for the value being offered, but that is often the case with a five star. When I asked the concierge for other options they seemed to know of none but a quick exploration of a few local streets turned up more than one option. That is disappointing as the concierge should be a sound source of local knowledge. When I asked about getting to Dubai on the local bus it was all but discouraged in favour of an 800 AED private tour. I was told even if I got there the metro was very difficult to use. The metro was indeed difficult to use if you live in another century under a rock and are a total idiot. The Dubai metro was one of the best organized, modern, efficient metros I've encountered. The local bus was an inexpensive way to get there and cab to and from the station were very cheap. When I asked Mahamoud (one of there better concierge staff) he gave me a complete, easy to follow, understanding on how to get there. Total transport costs for the day including the metro was 130 AED.

All in all not quite a 5 star but good value for money. They need to spend less energy thinking about what upgrades they can offer you on checkin and more about training their staff.

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the past 18 months simpy because it offers very good value for money for most of the year even when other Abu Dhabi hotels are quite expensive. The staff have always been very efficient, courteous and helpful. The restaurants provide good quality meals at very reasonable prices but for us non-smokers, the bars/lounges (Heroes and Vincents) are not ideal for a quiet drink. The Club Lounge offers excellent service and at current discount (AED200) is worth the extra money. Very good location - in main downtown area, and in cool weather, close enough to walk to the Corniche. Would recommend taking the breakfast package which is especially good value for couples. Will continue to stay at this hotel while in UAE.

Ended up staying in this hotel for nearly two weeks, as my job was delayed. Paid the extra to get upgraded to the club floor, which was definitely worth it. Included breakfast, internet, laundry, drinks and some food.

Personnal service provided by Dal, Paddy and Arlene is incredible in the lounge, ensure that I had the best stay possible considering the problems I had with the job.

Have already made my reservation for my return leg.

For the price I paid through lastminute.com for this hotel, I have no real complaints. This is a standard Crowne Plaza. As a Priority Club Platinum card holder, I even got upgraded. I opted for the 200 AED per night for lounge access, internet and breakfast (and probably some other things I’ve forgotten) and that worked well.

Good things: the suite was nice, quiet and comfortable. The lounge manager, Arlene, is a joy.

Slightly off things: the snacks in the lounge are not great so don’t bank on a cheap dinner here. Breakfast – nothing special and the “greeter” had obviously had a bad night.

Only serious criticism: I booked and was given a smoke free room but the previous occupant was clearly a smoker. And I don’t know of this is a “feature” of Abu Dhabi hotels but several in which I’ve stayed seem to leak smoke from the adjoining room or through the air-conditioning.

Overall, very good value for money, except for the smoke!
