“Clean, Quiet and convenient.”

If you are ever unfortunate enough to have a long layover in transit at Abu Dhabi airport then do yourself a favour and check in to the airport transit hotel for a few hours sleep.

The airport itself is where fun goes to die but the transit hotel is clean and very quiet. The rooms are large and the bathrooms with both bath and shower are very welcome after a long flight.

The beds are a little hard ( for my liking ) but this is a minor inconvenience when compared to the alternative of walking an airport that is reminiscent of a George A. Romero zombie movie.

It's not exactly 5 star but it is perfectly acceptable as a place to sleep while waiting for your flight to leave the insufferable airport.

“Great way to layover”

Instead of idling at the Abu Dhabi airport during our 15 hour transit - we took the room for day use ... and boy are we glad. Clean, comfortable and nice... I would say it is a great value for money deal! Best thing - decent bathroom and shower area ... !

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2010

The Transit Hotel or Abu Dhabi International Airport Hotel are other names this place is known by.
As it is 'airside' within the airport, meaning you do not have to go through Passport control or actually leave the departure gates of the Hotel the location is very good. The issue is that there are not many rooms and it was fully booked when we arrived at 9.30 pm and had to wait in the lounge (similar to Frequent Flyer / Qantas Club lounge at U$28 / 4 hours) until 1.30am hoping for a cancellation which we got.

The rooms are all nice, but seem to have 'paper thin' walls. When we got into our room, we could hear the toilet & shower in the next room, then the TV and finally his snoring. But tired is tire and eventually once we were asleep it was fine.

Pricing is in US Dollars; but charged in local currency. A little bit pricey for budget travellers andnot sure if it is local custom or not, but priceing is per person in the room and not per room.

Check out is 8am.

Travelled with my family in March on the way home from Bahrain. We were going to be stuck in the airport for approx 10 hours went straight to the hotel to see they have a room for the night they had none available they said we could stay in their lounge but we had to pay and could only stay for 4 hours they wanted approx 90 dollars from us to sit in their lounge, wouldn't mind if it was decent but it wasn't. I wouldn't give them 1 euro to sit in. There was only one couch for the 3 of us to sit in and we were going to be their through the night. Thinking maybe the hotel could help us and let us know if there were other hotels in the area we could stay in so I asked them the girl behind the counter just said no and that she couldn’t talk about other hotels and couldn’t help me”. Luckily the Eithad desk was open and they were helpful and they booked into a hotel that was 10 mins away and it only cost us 100 euro to stay. It was a lovely hotel and the staff was very friendly and ordered us a taxi for the next morning. my advice to anybody stuck in the airport through the night don't bother paying for a horrible airport lounge pay just a small amount extra and stay in one the lovely hotels in the area. We stayed in the Park Inn hotel which had a number of hotels around it.

“We only stayed there because we had to”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2009

We had a long transit in Abu Dhabi, so we decided to stay at the airport hotel. From the check in time, first bad impression: the hotel does not have hourly rates, like any other airport hotel, you can only check in by a nightly rate. Of course when you leave, they can re-use your room for another full nightly rate. This way we ended up paying around 240$ for just 8 hours stay. Second comes the location, it's in a different terminal than the new international terminal, so you have to go through security check all over again before getting to your flight. Third and the most unpleasant experience, is the cleanliness, or lack of it actually. The sheets and the towels were clean, or seemed to be, but the rest, stained chairs, dirty shower, or maybe just old -dirty looking, the TV remote is a story on itself, old and broken, has been taped shut with a piece of paper so the batteries don't fall, now this tape was gone, leaving behind a disgusting dirty, sticky surface, impossible to touch.
Also keep in mind that the rooms are very cold during the winter season, even though it is mild winter you can still fell it when the rooms you're staying in don't have any type of heating unit.
The food isn't that great also, very dry and tasteless, try to eat before getting there so you wont have to try it.
The only good thing about this hotel was the service, very friendly, helpful staff, offering to provide room service for us in a hotel that has none, no room service, no minibar, just two bottles of complementary water.
I hope we'll never have to stay there again. This will affect our airline choice for our next trip, so we can avoid Abu Dhabi airport.
