We stayed here on a Saturday night on a dinner, bed and breakfast package. The first problem we encountered was the parking situation - the whole area was absolutely crammed with cars, and the hotel does not seem to have it's own parking. You can leave your car with the valet who will juggle it around with other cars all night, but after trying this once we opted to find our own parking space.
Our first impression of the room was really good. It was nicely furnished and laid out with a large bed, LCD TV, and a kitchenette - altogether a perfect size for a short stay. There was only 1 towel in the room, but they brought another one fairly quickly after we called. Our package was for a set menu dinner, but when we looked at the menu it was all meat options and my wife is a vegetarian. However the restaurant staff were very friendly and went out of their way to offer her something else. I ordered the beef tenderloin steak, half thinking from the restaurant decor that it wouldn't be that great, but actually it was a very nice large slab of meat and very well cooked. The vegetables were cold, but the meat was good enough to make up for it. Our stay took a turn for the worse at bed-time. On getting into bed, we discovered that there was no duvet cover, just a sheet on top and underneath the duvet. The duvet was a bit dirty so not the most pleasant experience getting into that bed. Then I went to turn the light off and received a fairly strong electric shock as on closer inspection after the event all the wires were exposed at the back of the switch! I made quite a loud noise and dropped my phone, and my wife screamed as she did not know what had happened to me. Not the best start for a restful night's sleep, although we didn't eventually manage to drift off! Unfortunately at about 4.30am we were woken by someone playing very loud Indian music. Luckily we had brought ear plugs. Finally the morning arrived and we went to breakfast and we were again pleasantly suprised by the restaurant. Again the staff were very friendly, the cooked us omlettes to order and there was a good breakfast selection, although the hot food was mostly Indian food which we didn't feel like eating first thing in the morning. Before leaving, we decided to have a quick swim. We called reception first to check if there were towels available at the pool. They said yes, but we went up and there were no towels! However, after looking at the sorry little space that the pool was in, we decided to go to the beach instead anyway.
All in all a very mixed bag, but the negatives probably did outweigh the positives of the nice room decor and friendly restaurant staff.
