“Shocking”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

I arrived there around 6 PM with my girlfriend, the guy at the front desk (He did not know anything about Hotels) asked for our passports and when he saw that the last names are not the same he would not check me in, I was like what whats going on?? he said that because the last names are not the same that means we are not married and I was like ok so what is that mean???? , and I told him that we in America don't have to marry our girlfriends just to get a room at his pathetic Hotel, and even if we were married we don't have to have the last names either!!!!??? he acted as if he knew what he was doing and insisted that he cant check me in, and then he called someone and used a weird language that I did not understand pretending that he is taking to his manager (which am assuming that he is as worthless as his employee), and then hung up the phone and told me sorry cant check you in.
Now this is for people who are planning on visiting that worthless Hotel if you are going there with your significant other make sure that you get married and have the same last names so you can get a room in that pathetic Hotel, or just save yourself the trouble and dont go to this Hotel.
On the other hand the Hotel is located in an area that honestly I was thankful that he did not check me in, no easy access parking, very noisy area, very crowded, very dirty Hotel from the outside, front desk guy looked like he just got out of bed I barely understood what he was saying.

“A comfortable stay at a good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Not one of the best experiences but definitely a comfortable stay at well deserved price. The level of services offered in the hotel is nice that hardly leaves any place for complain. We stopped by Royal Qatar for two days and thankfully our stay was comfortable and we loved it. The location of the hotel is certainly something that makes it a good choice. Not very far from the airport and also a number of the attractions can be found in the neighborhood. Our room was a spacious one with a large bed in it. The cleanliness was there and also the staff looked helped. Food was delivered in the rooms only that too tasted delicious. On the whole, if you are going with an expectation of high extent of luxury, you might disappoint yourself but if you look for a comfortable stay at a good price, Royal Qatar is one of the best answers in Doha.

“Dumpy hotel, bad food, bad location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

We stayed here on a 23-hour layover in Doha, and it was provided for us by Qatar Airways (economy class). We really should have forked over the money for a nicer hotel. This place was a dump. We had to wait 15 minutes in 110-degree heat for the airport shuttle to come. Then, they confiscated our passports at check-in (which made us uneasy, and didn't encourage us to leave the hotel). The front-desk staff was rude and dismissive. The room was small and very dirty- there was long black hair all over the bedspread and pillows. The shower leaked all over the bathroom floor and the bathroom door didn't shut. The part of town didn't seem very nice either. Food was pretty bad. Recommend staying elsewhere.

“Basic”

I stayed for just a few hours. Room was too small but still, cozy one might say.
Food was okay too.

“Good Standard Hotel - Nothing Great but Front office exceptionaly cordial”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

This Hotel is situated in the Business district. We have stayed there for a night and day while transiting through Doha. Rooms are Good. Wash rooms are not that great. Eco wash is convenient for Travelers used to wet toilets. It is an average hotel, but conveniently located hardly 3kms from Airport in the business centre. There is lot of Asian fast food restaurants for a quick bite in the night. In the day time we had to rely only the Hotel Restaurant -The Silk route-as it was the Ramadan period , but bustle with activities all around after dusk. The front office was exceptionally cordial every time and staff members are very friendly. Every time when we went out they were suggesting us to drink enough water and take refreshment before as it is hot outside and may not find an opened food stall during Ramadan day time. Very much impressed with the bell boy who went running to the restaurant every time to bring cold water to the lobby before and after our trip around in that hot day. Lobby is well kept.
