Stayed here for three nights on a business trip. Pro's: near airport, huge room, okay breakfast. Con's: the terrible service of the employees. It's a bit like Fawlty Towers sometimes. An example: pay in the bar with creditcard and they'll ask you either to walk to the machine (instead of bringing it to you) or ask your PIN-code. Also, when a collegue was served warm beer, they seriously suggested to put ice in it. Like many travellers here said: the service is abysmal. However, the room was clean; my bed okay and for 100 euros per night, I would be tempted to stay again if I have to go to Doha the next time and only stay there for 2 nights orso.
Stayed here for a layover on a flight from the US to Asia.
Pluses-Huge, clean room with large king size bed, gigantic marble bathroom with separate shower and tub, good temperature control in room, walkable to Souk Watif, good value. However, It took at least half an hour to check in--the front desk person had trouble locating our reservation. The staff gave unhelpful answers when we asked questions and they seemed unhappy in general. When we asked for a taxi for the airport, the service they called charged us exorbitant prices compared to the taxi we had taken the day earlier. We were also unable to find a reasonable breakfast--the hotel staff recommended the hotel buffet which was $27 for nothing special. Overall, the room is very nice and made for a good night's sleep during a layover, but service really dragged down the experience.
Stayed just one night. Room is enormous as is the bathroom. very comfy bed, clean linens and lots of pillows. Shower was great with good water pressure and adjustable spray head. Bathroom also offered dual vanity and large soaking tub. Only drawbacks were stained carpets and scuffed walls but not so much that i felt the place is unkempt just maybe needing a soft refurb. Also dont understand why there is no clock in the room. Love the free wifi. My room was also right next to elevators but i didnt hear a sound. walked to Souk waqif and felt perfectly safe on my own. Newly opened Japanese restaurant on PH floor had great sushi!
I stayed in this hotel for 1 month as I was relocating to Doha and it gave me a chance to look for suitable accommodation. 1 week in the hotel room (1 of the towers) and 3 weeks in a serviced apartment (the other tower). The only positives are that it's a hotel that serves alcohol (there are many dry hotels in Doha) and the showers in the HOTEL rooms. It's the large rain shower heads. The rest is negative. There's a mosque located 10 meters from the hotel so for non-muslims it can be disturbing to wake at sun-rise everyday to hear the call to prayer. On top of this, I have never experienced a hotel that is sooooo bad in customer service!!! And I can not blame the line staff as they do what they can... it has to do with the management. Almost all Arab management that are so inept at customer service and going the extra centimeter. (forget about going the extra mile). When we moved into the serviced apartment we found food remains under the couches and the kitchen was absolutely filthy with kitchen equipment not even washed properly. It was a nightmare first move to Doha, but we did find our new home and are now happy to be in Doha. Would we ever go back, even for a drink?? NO!!!
