We chose the Golden Tulip as it is close to the airport. On reflection I would rather endure a long journey than subject my family to the Golden Tulip experience again.
I booked a Deluxe twin room for a Thursday night. On arrival I asked for a quiet room as I have a toddler who needed some sleep. Check in was protracted with the check n staff member spending most of the time on their mobile phone rather than processing us. When we got to the room I was surprised that it warranted the term "Deluxe". I hate to think what a standard room would be like. The carpet was stained and the room in a poor state of decoration and repair. The air-con adjustment was broken, toilet did not work properly and tap leaked. Soon after getting to the room (9pm on a Thursday night) bingo calling started from a compound next to the hotel. This carried on until 12.30am and was loud enough to prevent conversation at normal levels in the room. So much for a quiet room! The setup appears to be permanent so it's unlikely that the staff were not aware of this. I would expect any reasonable hotel to at least advise and offer apologies.
In-room dining was OK with reasonable choice and quality of food. Checkout was swift and the airport shuttle was quick and effective.
