I am an American with extensive travel to the GCC area. I had a four night stay at the hotel in late October, and found the experience disappointing. In general the hotel staff seemed confused and appeared to lack training. Check-in took about 15 minutes, and seemed to involve a significant amount of confusion. When I asked the concierge for a local map they seemed confused by the request, and eventually produced a map for a charge of 1.5 OMR. No one had any suggestions for local activities. I found it somewhat strange that when I requested a rollaway bed I was charged for both an extra guest (10 OMR), plus a charge for the bed (10 OMR). The hotel is dated looking, even by Muscat standards. I recommend some of the other western hotel chains.
