My husband and I had a long weekend break in Beirut. We stayed at the Casa d'or in Jeanne D'arc street in the fashionable Hamra area of Beirut about 30 mininutes' drive from the airport. We asked for a quieter room at the rear of the hotel. The view was uninspiring - a tenement to the rear, but it was quiet and guaranteed a good night's sleep. We found all the staff we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was simple but good - cheeses including the locally produced Liban (creamy/cheese'like yoghurt), pastries, assorted meat, fruit tea and coffee. The hotel is well placed for some good restaurants easily within walking distance.
