“Good location but that was about it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2010

The hotel is just a stone's throw from the main street in Hamra and there are plenty of cafes and shops nearby. Other than that, it was a very average budget hotel. Service was haphazard - one of the staff members at the reception looked annoyed every time we asked her a question. We stayed 3 nights and every time after the room was cleaned, they forgot to replace the bath towels.

“not to recommend”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

It is a very oldish simple hotel, located in the middle of Hamra in a busy street. No parking. Nearby a lot of restaurants, shopping areas and cafe. The room and the bath were not clean enough. The furniture was old. There was no plenty of choice for Breakfast, even the table coth was dirty. The only advantage of the hotel is the location

“Comfort in an ideal location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2010

Having read the reviews on this hotel I wasn't quite sure what to expect, however, I was pleasantly surprised. I booked it primarily because it had double rooms, while many of the nearby budget hotels had only twin rooms. We stayed there for 12 nights and found the place to be comfortable, clean and in an ideal location within the popular Hamra district. The rooms were spacious with a table and chairs, large balcony and en-suite facilities. The bed was very large and the bedding was brand new (I saw them unwrapping it). The public spaces in the hotel were kept tidy and clean and the dining room was lovely. The hotel has a swimming pool but it is not in use, which was disappointing.

There was a mini-bar in the room but the drinks were rather expensive. The couple travelling with us got a junior suite at no extra expense. The hotel is on a busy street and there can be a lot of noise from taxis and cars, which constantly use their horns but I think that would be the case in most hotels in this particular district. The district itself is very lively and full of restaurants, shops and fast food places. If I were to visit Beirut again I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Napoleon Hotel.
