This hotel is not 5 star! You enter the hotel in to a very smoky lobby which I learned is par for the course in Lebanon but still not a nice entrance for non-smokers.
The room was average but very noisy due to the road and building site outside. Tired decor and mouldy grouting in the bathroom.
On our first morning I had a fruit juice from the mini-bar, this and the glass I used were never replaced, made me wonder if I used the whole mini-bar in the first night does it not get refilled?!
We went reluctantly to the smoky lobby for a drink and mainly to use the WIFI, which is free of charge in the lobby but charged for in the rooms, this is fairly standard practise in hotels so no surprise there. The barman looked bored and uninterested, we sat at the only free table which had the previous persons dirty glasses and ashtray still on it, these were never removed the whole time we sat there, the barman seemed more interested in his mobile phone than his job!
Having stayed there for New Year's Eve we were disappointed not to be told when we checked in that there was a special New Year's Brunch, this looked very impressive but having already made other plans we dined elsewhere.
There is a cafe style restaurant attached to the hotel which has the same menu as the room service menu, food ok but definitely not up to 5 star standards.
This hotel is in desperate need of an overhaul both decor and staff wise neither of which are 5 star, a disappointing aspect of a very nice New Year's trip to Beirut!
