“May have been very grand in it's time, but it's time has past!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

This hotel is not 5 star! You enter the hotel in to a very smoky lobby which I learned is par for the course in Lebanon but still not a nice entrance for non-smokers.

The room was average but very noisy due to the road and building site outside. Tired decor and mouldy grouting in the bathroom.

On our first morning I had a fruit juice from the mini-bar, this and the glass I used were never replaced, made me wonder if I used the whole mini-bar in the first night does it not get refilled?!

We went reluctantly to the smoky lobby for a drink and mainly to use the WIFI, which is free of charge in the lobby but charged for in the rooms, this is fairly standard practise in hotels so no surprise there. The barman looked bored and uninterested, we sat at the only free table which had the previous persons dirty glasses and ashtray still on it, these were never removed the whole time we sat there, the barman seemed more interested in his mobile phone than his job!

Having stayed there for New Year's Eve we were disappointed not to be told when we checked in that there was a special New Year's Brunch, this looked very impressive but having already made other plans we dined elsewhere.

There is a cafe style restaurant attached to the hotel which has the same menu as the room service menu, food ok but definitely not up to 5 star standards.

This hotel is in desperate need of an overhaul both decor and staff wise neither of which are 5 star, a disappointing aspect of a very nice New Year's trip to Beirut!

“Decadance & Style......”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Joined by a large group of friends, we descended upon Le Bristol for a Long weekend in Beirut.

The Hotel is a classic reminder of an era with more style then our own.

The decor is superb.. somewhat dilapidated, but that adds to the charm and atmosphere.

Friendly Staff, Comfy Beds, Impeccable room service staff and superb location.

This place is a Gem.

Room Tip: I asked for an upgrade, and was happily given one....

“Great location, nice rooms, poor service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

Booked this hotel for a real bargain price online.
The location is fantastic, just next to Hamra st with many handy juicebars and restaurants nearby. The hotel is in a sidestreet so the rooms were not too noisy at night.
The lobby and communal areas are very grand and extravagant. I didnt book breakfast with my room so cannot comment on that, however we went to the cafe downstairs for some coffee and it was very nice.
The rooms we got were fine, good size and all the amneties were available, however the furniture and other aspects of the room looked dated.
One drawback of the hotel is that it is used for many political and social conferences and when this is going on the security at the front entrance is tight (metal detector and search) and the lobby is crowded which can be a little annoying.
The room service was very poor; we once waited an hour for a fork and when we still didnt get one I went down to the restaurant myself to get it! Also, it took several calls just to get a hairdryer as the one in our room had been taken. Having said that, the people at reception were quite polite and said they would help with any queries.
Overall, it is good value for money and a real shame they cant get their act together with regards to room service as otherwise this would be a fantastic hotel.

“Great Location, Terrible Hotel though :)”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

It seems that Le Bristol gets worse and worse as time passes by. However this time I vowed to myself not to book there ever again.

1) They tried to cheat my mother with the room. We payed for a junior suit however they gave me a SMALL room and told me RIGHT TO HER FACE it was a junior suit. She had to fight for what we already payed for till we got a junior suit.

MOREOVER, we payed for TWO persons already, and when I arrived (since I arrived 3 days afterwards) the receptionist asked if we could pay more since I came but we had to PROVE AND FIGHT again to prove that we already payed for two. Professional staff at a professional hotel would check the system instead of harassing visitors of the hotel in this manner.

2) The room service people gave most of the ppl at my floor a basket filled with fruits yet they managed to ditch and ignore my room for a whole week. Yet, they unbelievably were clingy once it was "Eid" so that you can tip them :) But ofcourse WITH THAT SERVICE in their dreams.

3) I ordered to have the device that heats up the water to be exchanged since it was broken and I wanted to make myself some tea, the guy came, took it, and brought it back as it is and he asked me if i liked it :) I mean how stupid do they think we are ?

4) Its a bit noisy and the rooms have terrible sound insulation, try to avoid rooms next to the elevator

5) I repeatedly asked room service to provide more shower towels since we were two persons yet they kept ignoring me.

The only good thing about the hotel is there cake shop in the entrance. So my suggest to you is to book another hotel and pass by whenever you want to eat some delicious sweets.

“Average hotel, poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

Stayed 6 nights, rooms are ok although a bit noisy. Ordered twice room service and it was impossible to get someone answering the phone. The poor guy on duty was litterally alone serving the whole hotel, unacceptable lack of personnel. Pros: good breakfast and free wifi at the lobby. Will not stay there again, when paying 200$/night I would definitely expect a better service.
