“A pearl in Beirut”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

I've tried the hotel & the roof top and both are perfect, the rooms are large and very comfi., the personal is very nice & helpfull, the beds are so gr8! great room service too! The hotel is in the middle of Beirut at a walking distance of so many nice places.
As for the restaurant everything on the menu is excellent! the tiramisu is the best i ever had. The place is so cosy & so beautiful it makes you forget that you in the middle on Beirut!

“An Ottoman gem”

We were in Beirut in mid October for my husbands birthday, so our choice of hotel was very important to us. We could not have been more pleased. The Albergo is a special place to stay; a refurbished Ottoman house in a smart part of town. The rooms are substantial and gracious. Ours was huge, with a four poster bed, very comfortable sofas and balcony. The lovely roof terrace is an ideal spot for a sunny breakfast as well as drinks in the evening, and there is a small roof-top pool which was very welcome after a day visiting any one of the many sites that Lebanon offers.
The hotel team couldn't have done more for us.Service was first rate - attentive and friendly.
The hotel is an oasis of calm away from the cacophany of noise in the city. Car horns and construction noise are the norm and there is work going on next to the hotel, so ask for a room on the other side.
All parts of the city are easily reached from the hotel and we walked to some very good local restaurants and bars.
If you are going to Beirut, you won't find a better, or lovelier, place to stay.

“Heavenly !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

What a wonderfully charming hotel in the heart of Beirut. Close enough to everything, yet a haven of tranquility in the hussle and bussle of Beirut.
A real Middle Eastern experience. Absolutely loved it.

“great hotel, shame about the construction work next door”

This is a beautiful, charming hotel. The service is first class and there are wonderful views across the city from the rooftop restaurant/bar. However (there's always a "however") there is substantial construction work going on in the site adjacent to the hotel therefore when you are booking (which I recommend) I suggest that you ask to be put in a room on the other side of the hotel (away from the construction) otherwise you will be sharing your room with the sound of heavy duty construction.

Other than that, the hotel is in a great part of town and really makes the Beirut experience. This is absolutely not a generic international hotel. I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars because my stay was badly impacted by the construction work.

Room Tip: get a room on the other side of the hotel from construction work

“charming romantic hotel in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

My husband and I visited Beirut for the first time for our wedding anniversary and stayed at the Hotel Albergo for three nights in mid October. Great time of year to visit as the weather was warm and balmy without being too hot. Hotel Albergo is also in a great location for wandering around Achrafea - which is a lovely part of the city to stay in as it retains a lot of beauty and character.

Hotel Albergo is pretty unique and has an air of charm that is hard not to fall in love with. We ended up coming back to the hotel most evenings just to enjoy the quaint rooftop terrace or the bar upstairs as an end to our evenings out.

definitely a place to go if you want to experience something a bit different from the usual shiny 5 star hotel. The rooms were large, with spacious bathrooms (complete with a sizeable jacuzzi bath). Service was fantastic for the duration of our stay, from checkin to ordering cars, booking excursions and everything else you expect in a good hotel.

recommend this as a romantic option to enjoy with someone special - as its a pretty special place.

One thing that i would mention is that the pictures of the pool are deceptive - i didnt really think it was a pool that you could swim in, but thats not something that ruined our stay, which we really enjoyed. we plan to return.
