“Transit only, useless for the town”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 April 2011

Not a bad place for a transit, many passengers for Gulf Air delays are dropped there. (And treated a bit rudely by the check-in staff; passports are locked up during your stay there, without clear warning, as a safeguard that the passenger pays for the extras like drinks instead of hoping that airline or hotel does this...)
Room on 2nd floor was okay, though quite dated; bathroom worn-out (e.g. no bath tub plug anymore) and housekeeping had forgotten to place towels, THAT was fixed quickly. Restaurant on ground floor acceptable buffets, more 2-star than 4-star. Pool (nextdoor, access from outside) is not bad either; not as sleazy/mixed with massage parlour as with other Manama hotels. Juffair is close to airport but QUITE far from the real Manama town, the only thing at walking distance is a small suburban shopping mall.

“A place to sleep, not to stay...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

Overall quite clean, spacious and quiet. The room was nice and dark, perfect for sleeping. Decor a little dated, the alarm clock didn't work, it appeared somebody had gotten into the minibar and 'sampled' the bottles and the bathrooom smelled funky, though appeared clean.

The Al Safir isn't really somewhere to linger, but was well-priced and got the job done. The service, however, was appalling - despite prior online bookings and the fact that we arrived just when we said we would, our check-in took in excess of an hour and seemed to bore and inconvenience staff. Check out, despite being told that our intent was to check out after breakfast, was a similar ordeal.

A power adapter was requested three times, each time with assurances that it was on the way, though it never arrived.

“Central property, friendly staff, clean smart appeareance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2011

Stayed for the weekend with a 2 bed apt which was huge. Apt was clean , smart well appointed and has all amenites required. Two bedrooms both en suite , and a further bathroom off the lounge area. Apt was clean , house keeping were up to the mark. Tv Channels were numerous but very few in english. The only two negatives would be that being Janruary , there was no heat also the internet was slow and kep getting disconnected but was free.. I know Bahrain is a very humid country and it is not required 10 months of the year but for the 2 months the system should have a heating option. The decor is basic enough , but peferctly adequate an the showers were excellenty wiht hot high pressure water. Staff were friendly obliging and help ful.
Recommended for familes or groups of friends!

“Great comfortable hotel for a reasonable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2010

We were certainly not expecting a 5-star class double room as this hotel is not really advertised as a 5-star hotel. But everything inside was luxurious and plush. The AC was excellent despite scorching heat outside. It was very quiet and comfortable. The bathroom was excellent. It was bright, well decorated and clean. Initially my shower was not functioning well so I asked reception and they sent a plumber almost immediately and he fixed it within a few minutes. All well but he expected a tip and wouldn't go without getting one.
There is free WiFi but speeds are OK for checking your emails or your flight plans. Not really broadband. The food was sumptuous and varied. There was continental, Arabic and Indian menu in the restaurants.

It is located in a new suburb away from the main city. Everywhere there is construction activity and it can be hard to find a good place nearby unless you have proper traveling arrangements.

“Not a place to sleep”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2009

We were flying with Gulf Air from Katmandu to Istanbul and we had to stay one night in Bahrain for our connecting flight next day. Gulf Air placed us in this hotel and I was given room 103 on the first floor. There was disco music on mezzanine floor and it was as if playing in my room. The reception and night manager was not helpful at all, did nothing to change my room. Music lasted until 02:30 and from 04:00 to 05:30 there were shouting and horns blowing in front of the hotel, just below my window. If this is a Hotel they shouldn't have disco near guest rooms. Not a place to sleep.
