My wife and I stayed at the ritz for a weekend in October 11 and it was a much needed weekend getaway (living in Riyadh). We had booked at the lib room, and when we arrived I tried checking in at the front desk, but we were told that we had to go to the club lounge on the top floor to check in. At the club lounge they distracted us from our 30 min (far too long) check in process by servicing us with afternoon tea and light snack. I had got up and went to the counter twice asking for our key card and they replyed to please wait in the lounge and someone will bring you your key. Might be a nice perk to others but I would rather check in then place our luggage then have the option to stay at the lounge if I pleased. The room was modernly decorated and clean, with view of the Arabian gulf. The service was efficient and prompt. Breakfast was included in the lounge, but was not really what you would expect in a ritz, but rather a three to four star business hotel. For the region I guess it would do fine. I would probably come back but I will not opt for the club room again.
