“Excellent Hotel, memorable stay”

We booked this hotel at the last minute directly via thier website. We booked a king size bed with an extra bed/cot for our 7 year old - the staff happily provided this at no extra cost.

Check in was very smooth, it took us about 10 minutes to complete the paperwork and get to our room. Once there, we were provided with complimentary bottles of water, which was a nice gesture.

Our room (including the bathroom) was very clean, and the linens and towels smelled fresh. We could see one minaret and some of the courtyard in front of King Abdul Aziz gate from our room. The AC was silent and very effective. There was a lcd/plasma tv, unfortunatley there weren't any kids channels or english news/sports channels. Also, there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but there is a fridge.

It took me about 8-10 minutes to go from my room (on the 13th floor) to take up my place for Salaah in the Masjid. From the main entrance of the hotel to the courtyard of the haram is about 4-5 minutes.

The breakfast was excellent, with a good variety buffet (including freshly prepared omlettes), as well as fresh fruit and fruit juice (not diluted).

All the staff were very friendly, especially the bell boys, the waiters, house keeping and also maintenance. I agree with some previous comments that the reception staff need to speak better english.

Overall I would say that we had an excellent stay, and would definitely recommend Le Meridien Makkah (not to be confused with Le Meridien Towers) to others .

Dear TripAdvisor Member,

We would like to express our sincere “thanks” for your kind comments with regards to your stay at the property. Your valuable comments provide us the insights to improvise on our services. As commented, we’ll definitely look into the possibility of adding kids channels or english news/sports channels in our in-room channel guide.
Due to safety concerns of the pilgrims we do not provide tea/coffee making facilities in the room but it is compenstaed through a complimentary voucher offering tea/coffee service at the hotel’s Mazaj cafe (lobby) and can be found in the discovery envelope in the room.
Thank you, once again for your review and we are very happy to acknowledge that you’ve enjoyed your stay at the Le Meridien Makkah and we hope to see you again very soon for your next stay in the holy city of Makkah.

Sincerely,
Hotel Management

“Stay only if you have no other choice”

If you are making reservation through internet then expect them to tell you that you have no reservation. I made reservation through Le Meriden main reservation system, so i gave the staff the confirmation number and i was told sorry no reservation, i explained that this is a print out, but they rejected and finally after some arguments they checked the main reservation (mother company) and found the reservation.

I paid by credit card, but they told me 'we are different company, so you have to pay here.
in the reservation, from the mother company, it says breakfast is included , but they said we DO NOT ACCEPT THAT.

The shuttle bus between hotel and Haram usually does not leave on time. People smile but no good service.

In my opinion there is a very serious managment issue, lack of training and NO QUALITY ASSURANCE FROM LE MERIDEN COMPANY.

PLEASE DO NOT STAY UNLESS THERE IS NO SIDE WALK YOU CAN SLEEP ON.

“a 5 star hotel with some remarks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2010

the hotel is approximately 7 minutes away from the haram , and there is no shops or restaurants near it except an ice cream shop and a pharmacy.
i booked two rooms for 3 nights starting from 1 February , my booking was by phone and i requested for connected rooms because we are a family , the guy who made the resarvation told me that if they could not provide a connected rooms then the rooms would be next to each other but when i arrived i found that our rooms were 508 and 511 ( which means there are two rooms between them).
the rooms were clean but a little small and the furniture was nice( there was not any tea or coffee amenities) , the bathroom was clean but again a little bit small.
their breakfast was nice and had a variety of dishes but i think it would really be up to the standards of a 5 star hotel if it was larger .
it had 5 or 6 ( i forgot the exact number) elevators so it was not a problem to find one when it is pray time( a very crowded time in makkah hotels).
the room service was great , i really liked the lemonade.
in general it is the perfect hotel for anyone doesn't really care for the size of rooms and breakfast .
p.s: Arabic is my mother tongue so i didn't face any difficulties in communicating with the hotel's employees( reception, room service , house keeping) but i noticed that no body in the hotel speaks English so i think that the management should try to solve this problem especially that Le meridian is a famous world wide hotel and so many of its customers don't speak Arabic.
