You have a 15 hours or so lay over in Amman if you fly Larnaca to BKK by Royal Jordanian. This is inevitable if you do a round the world with One World as RJ is the OW carrier operating to the East out of Cyprus, and the RJ flight leaves late at night and gets to Amman very early in the morning. The Bkk flight is later that same night. Although not well published, RJ will give you a free hotel stay here plus transfer between the hotel and airport, which is only a few km. I just missed the bus which only runs every hours or so, and rather than be trapped outside in the heat for a while I got a cab which was less than $10 or so.
The room was about 2*, a bit smelly with an ancient A/c, TV worked, shower worked, toilet worked, seemed to be an all day free buffet breakfast with typical Middle East food, eggs, tomatos, cucumber, nice breads, houmus, olives, etc.
Was able to have a sleep, a shower, and few hours out of the airport, which It was better than trying to seep on the airport chairs.
The trick here is to make sure you do not transfer through from the air bridges into the airport gate lounges, but ask at the transfer desk for a hotel pass, then exit through customs who give you a visa free stamp, at least for Aussie passport holders.
If you go through then into is a real hassle to get back out to the hotel.
For a few hours it provided a safe, reasonable clean, reasonable if plain food, and a few TV channels to watch.
Seem to remember there was also Wifi as well.
