At best this hotel has seen better days.. the hotel is badly in need of renovation and a fresh set of carpets and bathroom towels.. the hotel has some construction going on at can be a little noisy during the day. besides there is a school behind it and will serve as an alarm in case you forgot to set one..wifi access seems to be ok if you are close to the router, but the cost as usual with most hotels is a rip off.. 22JD for 24 hrs (from time of log in, irrespective of usage) or 12JD for 1 hr.. overall it is not recommended for a business traveller.. the staff are extremely friendly and are very helpful.. but that seems to be the only highlight.. at the best good for tourists who need a place for an overnight stay.

There are better (and worse) options in this category - on our return to Amman we stayed at the Al Qasr Metropole - but the Grand Palace was clean and comfortable. The decor of the rooms might not be to everyone's taste but we had a good night's sleep.

As we arrived late at night and left early the next day we cannot comment on the hotel's facilities but the impression was that the common areas were overdue a facelift. Also the staff were not especially obliging.

At breakfast most of our fellow guests seemed to be on coach tours and it may be that the hotel caters for this market.

Breakfast itself was mediocre. There was plenty of food and a good selection but the quality was not the best.

I had read some bad reviews on this hotel so was wary but was pleasantly surprised when we got there. There IS a building site over the back but this did not bother us at all and wasn't noisy and the sitting room area off the foyer looks still unfinished. But other than that, the reception guys, porters and waiters were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, well appointed and of good size and the buffet breakfast, while not the best I have ever had, was the best we had on out whole trip this time and was quite varied. In my experience of travelling in the Middle East, you simply can't expect the same as, say Australia, unless you can afford to stay 5 star. You don't get tea and coffee making facilities or ironing boards and irons and often there is no alcohol in the mini bar or no mini bar at all. At the end of the day I want somewhere with clean comfortable beds and hot water and a decent breakfast and this caters for that just nicely. It is not too far to go to a decent restaurant from here.

we stayed at the grand palace for 2 nights, it was nice.. friendly staff, clean rooms and an avarege menu..the location of the restaurant is nt all that, lots of construction around that area..and the telephone bill was unbelievable!! let's just say avoid using the phone..
