“Bad stay”

it was a bad experience, i made my booking through a travel agency asked them to make sure that they book me a room at the new section (newly renovated rooms) which they confirmed to me twice. However, when i arrived at the hotel the employee at the reception desk told me he don't have any rooms in the new section and i have to settle for an old room!! when i refused he told me he will upgrade me to a better room.. which was more like a down grade because he fooled me with an old room not in the new section.. it was too late to take any decisions but i stayed for a night then the next morning i checked out and went to the Four Seasons which was a great experience (one of the best hotels in terms of service and rooms).. Huge difference between the employee who i still remember his name of Le Meridian and the Four Seasons staff..

“A solid option in Amman”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Recently stayed for 2 nights at Le Meridien having stayed many times over the last 15 years. The hotel has undergone quite a lot of refurbishment work in the last few years and this time my stay was in the newer wing of the hotel (compared to the tired rooms in the original wing last time). I paid the premium for the 'Club' upgrade, which includes internet, access to the lounge with breakfast, happy hour and an evening buffet - for an additional 30JOD this practically pays for itself. However, breakfast is pretty limited in choice and the lounge gets busy whenever there are free food and drinks. Also, the lounge is on the 8th floor in the old part of the hotel and therefore a bit of a trek from the new wing. Not a huge problem unless you have difficulty getting around.
I don't think the room is any different for the club upgrade but mine was fine - I guess a twin with two decent (queen) size beds in which I slept very well (not often the case). Free internet is by lan cable only (at least in the new wing) which was annoying, but wifi is available in the lobby and club lounge.
Bathroom was not great - the shower curtain in my room wasn't long enough to reach the bath so inevitably shower-time got the floor pretty wet but the water pressure wasn't so strong as to make this a huge problem, just a silly mistake.
The hotel was very busy during my stay apparently owing to an influx of Libyans getting medical help but the various restaurants were still pretty quiet. On the first night we had steak in 'Bar 282' which was pretty good and the second night ate at their Benihana which was ok but not as part of the original hotel looking a little worn.
Overall none of this diminished my experience that much and I would be happy to return for my next visit.

Room Tip: Pay the 30JOD for the club lounge, and try to get a room in the new wing,

Dear guest,

Thank you for sharing your kind comments on our website.

The new entrance to the hotel has been designed to add timeless, uncontained space to the lobby and to enhance the arrival experience. We are also extremely proud of our outlets, especially 282 Steaks and Lounge which offers the best Certified Angus Beef in Town. Benihana is also known for its fresh sushi and tasty Teppanyaki. Please accept our apologies about the shower curtains, as we are in the process of changing them. As our hotel is one of the biggest in town and is mostly busy with guests, this process might take a month to complete.

Thank you again and looking forward to welcoming you soon at your second home; Le Meridien Amman.

“Good, clean room with comfortable king bed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

After having stayed (or almost stayed) at some seriously interesting (disgusting) places in Egypt I was tempted to give this 5 circles but then I remembered a couple of negatives. Those being: bathroom was pretty dated and felt a little old and the air con which everyone else has also mentioned was not working and we had to open our window. Aside from these things though the hotel was very good. And our room was clean with NO hair on the sheets or towels. After staying in the before mentioned Egypt hotels and one at the Dead Sea and almost one in Petra I can say with certainty that this is an apparent rarity in the Middle East. Seriously, I think housekeeping must brush their hair while cleaning in these countries. Anyway, I digress. This hotel was such a nice relief and we had the best meal of our trip here at the Italian restaurant. Food was simply excellent and inexpensive. Also, gift shop near lobby sold some great Dead Sea products and some handmade things from Israel. Would definitely recommend. Think this is probably as good as it gets in the Middle East...

“Will stay again...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Must ask for the newly renovated part of the hotel...v clean, spacious.
friendly staff and very helpful.

I was upgraded to a Jr. Suite...overlooking the pool (not a good idea if you have kids, as loud music can be heard late night). Didn't bother me as it stopped by the time I would come back to the room.

room service over priced...not great. hit the town to eat if you can.

“Not up to the standard”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

The rooms were very warm - a stark contrast from the chilly weather outside. We had to open the windows to let off some of the heat. We had connecting rooms at the club member floor. The rooms were spacious and the beds were awesome! The only thing was that because of the opened window, we could hear all the noise from the construction works they had down the road. Not a nice way to relax.. The room deco was old fashioned.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Le Meridien Amman on TripAdvisor. We are glad you liked our comfortable beds and rooms; which are the largest in size amongst all 5-star hotels in Amman.

Please accept our sincere apologies about the heat in the rooms. We are also sorry about the construction noise, which is a temporary issue, resulting from the municipality making some works on the roads. We sincerely hope that we remain amongst your accommodation options for the future, and look forward to seeing you again
