I normally prefer to stay in 5* hotels when I go away, but since I was traveling with a fairly poor friend we went for the cheaper option, an apartment. We only paid £280 between us for a week, and it was an absolute bargain!. The hotel was right by the Hilton hotel which boasts the best beach (and beach boys!) in Tel Aviv. Although the apartment was a tad dated and a 10 minute walk into the centre of town, it really wasn't an issue - I prefer to stumble down to the beach in a couple of minutes and then walking into town in the evenings anyway.
The receptionist, Doris, as we named her, is a treat too. She has a real thing about telephones, and how you must use the telephone in your room. I was kind of convinced she had been chained to her desk for the past 15 years and missed the emergence of mobile telephones!
