“It was not that bad”

One cannot expect to pay one star prices for a hotel room and expect a five star service.

For the price and location this hotel was ideal. The staff - particularly Avi was very helpful indeed. The room was not serviced on the Saturday - perhaps because of the Sabbath. Did not have breakfast there through my own choice.

The place has seen better days but the price was perfect. I only used the room - which was tidy to sleep in.

“The most horrible hotel ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2011

Ophir was by far the worst hotel experience I've ever had. We've experienced all these unpleasant incidents which other people have already mentioned here.

First, he claimed that he had no credit card machine and that we had to pay in cash in advance. Moreover, he tried to overcharge the room by 15%, by using exaggeratedly high exchange rate. Then, when we entered the room we saw a huge double bed and a very bad spare bed. We asked thewm to change to a room with 2 normal single beds. He said all the rooms were booked and he would fix it the day after. When next day came, he asked to move to another room.In this new room , there was just a double bed!!! When we told them that this not what we had asked for, they told us that they would fix the problem right away.We left for a long tour around the city and when we come back after few hours, nothing had changed. Their answer to our intense complaints was that there was no alternative. When we kept on complaing, their solution was to a very fragile campbed without a proper quilt and with dirty linen!!! After all these unpleasant surprises, we didn't mind that much about the fact that breakfast was worse than mediocre.

The chain-smoking guy in the reception seemed to be involved in other illegitimate activities...

SO, AVOID THIS "HOTEL" AT ALL COST , UNLESS YOU WANNA HATE ISRAEL !!!!!

“This is the worst place on the planet to stay”

I stayed in this place for 2 nights, but only because I'd already booked it. The receptionists were 2 men dressed in dirty white T-Shirts. They wanted cash up front, saying their credit card machine was broken. The whole place was dirty. There was a half finished bottle of beer under my bed when I arrived and despite telling the receptionist, it was still there when I checked out. There are no restaurant facilities and you could get a better breakfast in prison. I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs. If michelin gave minus stars, this place would be more than -5.

“would never stay here again, disgusting”

Should not be classified as a hotel. Rude staff - only wanted cash up front (said card machine had just gone off line...).
Bathroom and bedroom very dirtly, looked as though the bed had not been made (dirty linens - bed and bath), room not cleaned or even straightened up. Toilet never stopped running, and invested with cockroaches.
Breakfast - by 8 am there was no water left (30 mins into open hours), and no one around to refresh.
Very dirty all round, would prefer to sleep on the beach in future

“They steal your money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

Before i decided to come to the Ophir hotel i read the reviews but thought that it had to be exagerated, and that it could not possibly be this bad. Well i was terribly wrong. I did a online booking in advance and when I came to the hotel they told me I had to pay cash. It was hard to get back the money, and after a while I got back some of it. They gave me a doubleroom instead of the singleroom I reserved and charged me much more for it, even if it was dirty and full of ants. Many of the customers was complaining and it was a bad atmosphere in the hotel.
