We stayed in a suite with a balcony overlooking the Mediterranean and everyday the sea showed us a different personality. After staying in the large hotels of Eilat and Jerusalem, we were delighted to find a hotel with personality. Everyone was so accomodating and helpful..the room was more than adequate, the breakfast was lovely and the service was off the charts. We particularly fell in love with Mickey. All this and free wi-fi...and we could walk everywhere...and did!

I am not sure why this hotel is getting amazing reviews, not that there is anything wrong with it, but giving this 5 stars is a little over rated. It is a clean hotel with a good location, and it has a reasonable price. The rooms are a decent size but the bathrooms are very small and if you are a man of decent size, just turning in the shower will knock open the shower door. However, it is not a bad place to stay if looking for a cheap, close to the beach hotel. They offer a good breakfast buffet that is included with the room, which is a nice touch. The best thing about this hotel is the service. The people that work there are very nice and helpful. They are always willing to help you with anything you may need. There is also free wifi at this hotel.

*This hotel does offer some rooms with ocean view, but you are looking across a gigantic parking lot. You are not right on the beach.

The hotel is really played up on its website and in Lonely Planet. In reality, keep your expectations modest. It's a basic hotel near the ocean (not seafront) with small rooms (feng shui?) and a great breakfast. Was it a fine place to stay? Sure. Did I feel a little led on by the website and Lonely Planet recommendation? Yes.

After 2 weeks of traveling through Israel, Hotel de la Mer was a warm place to conclude my adventures. The people were extraordinary - responding to emails within a few hours, warm greetings and making sure no one leaves the hotel without a good breakfast! As stated in previous reviews, the breakfast buffet is amazing with delicious cappuccinos prepared by the charming staff being an extra added surprise. The rooms are small but cozy - providing the best night's sleep on the entire trip. The location was great - close to the beach for sunrise walks and easy walking distance to anywhere in the city. Absolutely will stay there again!
