“Great hotel for a quick layover or if on a budget”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

At the end of a two week tour of Israel, I decided I wanted to stay over an additional day. After two weeks of vacationing and traveling my funds were running low and my bags full. I needed a hotel in a nice area but on a budget. After reading numerous reviews, I settled on The Maxim Hotel.

The rooms and hotel was very clean and the staff was very helpful. The hotel sat across the street from the beach and I was able to enjoy a beautiful sunset on the Med. The hotel was also close to numerous resturants and shops, I was able to eat and pick up a few last minute souvineers before leaving.

The only downside was that the room was very small, but if you are by yourself or on a budget DO NOT let that discourage you from staying.

“Nice staff, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

I have stayed at the hotel Maxim in late November 2011 for a few days and was quite satisfied with my choice. The location is close to the beach and very much walking distance to the main streets of Tel Aviv that are of interest to the tourists. The Bograchov street next to the hotel has a few restaurants, cofee shops if one wants to quickly orient oneself upon the arrival. The staff at Maxim was very nice and helpful, especialy lady by the name of Sharon. Internet connection on the PC in the lobby was intermittent. The breakfast was good and they have a cake with cofee/tea from 5pm to 6p The rooms are small, the carpet is getting old, but overall I think it is a good deal. Since I came in November, when there were fewer tourists and they had more rooms available, they have upgraded me to a better room than I paid for.
There are a number of cheap looking hotels/hostels neaby, but I do not think they are overall good deals, and so are the many much more expensive well known brand hotels that are also nearby. Definitely take a walk along the beach in both directions from the hotel, it is quite nice.

“Nice staff and good location”

I stayed for a week at this hotel. The rooms are OK. The breakfast is delicious with wide choice. I like the staff and owners of this place who provided information since this was my first visit there(unlike many other reviewers who did not like the front office team). The street is a very busy one outside and so noice is an issue. The beach is five minutes away. I particularly liked an elderly man at the breakfast/evening tea service who used to suggest me to try different items there - the food was fabulous for someone of Indian origin eating only vegetarian food. There was good Internet too(free). The price was reasonable as the city is expensive, relatively. The public bus is a short walk from the hotel that can take you to the city train station/main bus station to go around in Israel. Public bus drivers are helpful and some speak English. it is very safe to go out at day and night here.

Room Tip: A room away from the street for less noise

“nothing special. its ok!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We (2 people + 1 infant 15 month) have been there in sept. 2011. the lobby is quite beautiful, the breakfast tastes good. the support in the hotel is very nice, everyone helps you. another great plus is the very good position. the beach is to be reached by feet in 1 minute. a small kiosk and a mc donalds is also right next to the hotel (good when u need some stuff at night). the wlan and the tv's (even if they are not flat) works fine. parkings is available for about 8 cars.

the negative aspects were the very tiny rooms. after the first night, we went to the reception and they gave us a bigger room (2-3 m² bigger) for free. the rooms are really small, espcially with a child. the interiour was older, the beds quite uncomfortable (but it was not bad either). the parking lots are small and parking lots are available until 2300, then the garage is full and you have to park @ londong parking nearby for 35 nis.

at least, this hotel is one of the cheaper ones in tel aviv. its solid and "cheap", but not really compareable to the big hotels in the city. its average.

Room Tip: not 101. good rooms on floor 3/5. 404 is ok.

“Well worth the money! Right on the beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

I guess the people who are giving this hotel bad marks simply expected too much. The price of this hotel is less than half of local Holiday Inn or Best Western. And, it is across the street from the beach. Yes, the building is older and the rooms are worn. But, everything is super clean! Everything was in full working order. No problem. The staff were OK, nothing special. I didn't have any problems so that was not an issue. As for the breakfast, it was very good. Fresh lachs (smoked salmon) and meats everyday. This hotel is a great value with a wonderful location. If I get back to Tel Aviv, I will stay here for sure!
