“Not as nice as the pictures make you believe”

I stayed one night while on business.

The location is good, right on the beach next to the other international chain hotels. There's a decent selection of good restaurants and bars within 10 minutes walk from the hotel.

The property itself is rather disappointing. From the website it looks quite modern and funky, sort of like a western style boutique hotel. The reality when you arrive is totally different. Throughout the hotel is run down and shabby, very little has been done to upgrade the rooms or the communal areas the past 5-7 years (if so, it can hardly be noticed).

The room size was okay, but again pretty worn out (especially the bathroom). I liked the fact that there was a kettle in the room but on the other hand the bed was sagging, the carpet stained and the whole place was just quite dull.

As regards the staff, they kept giving me the impression that you were bothering them. There was never a smile or any effort to make your day any better. Although the hotel was less than half full, my request of upgrading to a sea view room was just countered with a cold "that'll be another 40 dollars" without any tact or attempt to maybe negotiate that fee.

Wi-fi was expensive, so I didn't bother. Having worked out the poor general standard of the hotel, I didn't bother with breakfast either.

I would definitely choose another hotel next time in Tel Aviv.

“A serious breach of guest security”

I would have rated this hotel “average” but for one bad incident that really annoyed me. It is a fairly run down place. The rooms are OK, just. Some small annoyances- poor water pressure – shower barely more than a trickle. Also the room had two single beds pushed together which I just don’t get. I was alone, but if I had my girlfriend with me the idea of sleeping in two “joined” single beds amazes me – why can’t they just put a double or queen size bed in?

Other complaints – laundry services and WIFI are very expensive.

Anyway to the serious incident. I came back to my room one afternoon to find the room door unlocked, and WIDE OPEN – correct – my room door was wide open to anyone walking down the corridor. I immediately thought it had been burgled. Down to reception and a phone call to the housekeeping staff – it turns out that some tradesperson had been “fixing the locks” on the rooms and had accidently left my room open. Really? So I got a half-hearted apology and that was it. I was amazed. Luckily none of my gear seemed to be missing.

There is just no excuse for this. In most countries such an incident would be taken seriously. At a minimum I would have expected an assurance that the person responsible had been dealt with. In the USA, Australia, or New Zealand (at least) any hotel staff member who negligently left a guest’s room door unlocked and wide open to anyone to walk into would be fired for negligence. I am fairly sure that didn’t happen here. I got no contact from hotel management at all. The least I could have expected was a full apology from the hotel manager, and perhaps some financial compensation like a free night’s accommodation. In decades of staying in hotels around the world, from 1 star places to 5 star, this was a first.

“Good Bang Per Buck!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

I stayed here for one week during my stay in Tel Aviv in December 2011.

The hotel is 30 second walk from the beach. In fact I could see the beach and sea from my room.

It is about a 20 minute walk or 3 minute taxi ride from Jaffa port and Namal Jafo with Neve Tzdek a little further. The bars in these places are outstanding in particular Namal Jafo.

The reception staff are very friendly can all speak good English. Phew! My Hebrew is a little rusty.

Breakfast was an amazing selection of choices for ALL tastes. The breakfast room is large with views off the beach and sea.

The room was cleaned each day, even if I asked for it to be cleaned in the afternoon.

The room had Aircon/Heating and a cute TV. All worked fine.

The hotel has wifi and you pay either $3 for 1 hour or $17 for 24 hours. I found the wifi coverage good, even in the room.

Opposite the hotel are places where you can buy water and other necessary items.

I suggest you dont stay on the 5th floor as I heard other guests complaining about thin walls. I personally had no problems with noise what so ever.

Do note, that Tel Aviv is a city that is vibrant through the early hours, so be prepared to hear people on a Thursday/Friday as the walk around in the early hours.

Overall, price versus location/facilities this hotel is great value.

Maybe I should not have written a review :-).

“Nothing special but a good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

I stayed here as part of a tour. The rooms are a little small but adequate. There is a fridge though The hot water was not always reliable. The location was great though, and the breakfasts were very good.

Room Tip: I'm not sure. Probably further from the elevator would be quieter.
