“Nearly a great hotel, but really let down by the food.”

I stayed here for 3 nights and had a reasonably nice room (though very out of date for the price you pay) with a decent view of the sea. The location is nice and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The food however is appalling. Truly appalling. I am a business traveller and stay in hotels belonging to this group frequently. I have never come across anything like this. I gave breakfast a go three days on the trot and it was not good - I was even given gone off fish in an omelette. The first night I arrived late and had room service and the rice I had was clearly scraped off the bottom of the pan. When you pay the prices you pay here, this is unacceptable - particularly in a city that generally serves incredible food. If the whole place was updated and they got a new chef, then I would recommend this place. Until then, stay away - you can get much better value for money.

“Good location, OK hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Well located, somewhat dated hotel. Room was comfortable, dinner and breakfast buffets were fine. We stayed only one night, so cannot comment on any other amenities.

“Beautiful location and beach”

I spent two nights at the Renaissance and enjoyed it tremendously. It's situated on the beach promenade and my room had a beautiful view facing Old Jaffa and the beach. The room was spacious and very clean. The furniture looks a bit 1980's Miami, but it was in good condition. There are many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, including two directly behind the hotel overlooking the sea. I would stay here again.

“Improved and very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed here again January 2012 and it has been improved since our last visit. Rooms were renovated and nicely decorated. Great views of the sea. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Choose a high up floor, closer to the beach.

“Fantastic service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

My partner and I have just spent a wonderful 7 nights at the Renaissance Tel Aviv. Upon check in, we were given a warm welcome and given a very comprehensive explanation of the hotels facilities, breakfast times, gym and pool location etc..

The room we were given was 1515, which had a north facing balcony, with a partial view of the beach and marina. After the first night, my partner asked if a room was available with a full beach view. This was no problem at all for the hotel staff and we were given two alternative room options on the 15th floor. Room 1501 we chose, giving a view of Jafa and Tel Aviv beaches.

We had the breakfast everyday in the breakfast lounge which we could not fault. Omelettes made to your requirements. fresh fruit, fish, and a wide selection of breads were available.

As commented previously in other reviews, the rooms and furniture are a touch dated, although the hotel is currently undergoing a modernization exercise. 2 rooms on the 15th floor were already complete and looked great.

We used the gym, pool and sauna, which we found to be excellent. All the staff we came across at the hotel are very friendly, it really was a pleasure to stay here and we look forward to returning, hopefully in a modernized room.
