“Good for groups”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Stayed at this large and fairly well appointed hotel with the tour group I was with in January, 2012. Rooms were average in size and came with usual bland decor - functional, but not overly inviting. Shower doors are small (European-style) so be prepared to be careful or get water all over the floor in the bathroom. We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel. It was buffet-style and you can see all the international tourists who have come to stay there (including us!). The food was very good - generally hot and many tasty choices (and set up not to violate any religious dietary restrictions, by my estimation), though if you are from the West, you may not recognize all the fare (especially "salads" and desserts). Staff was fine - they were not looking for any new best friends, but far from rude, just matter-of-tact.

“Not for individual travellers but an ok hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Grand Court Hotel is a huge hotel that caters mainly to tour groups. In addition, don't expect service with a smile, with a few exceptions, the people at the front desk wont go out of their way to help you. I had arranged with the hotel to have a car waiting to pick me up at Ben Gurion airport but when I got to the Arrivals Hall , no one was waiting for me. So you're better off taking one of the airport taxis
My room was spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet was a feast, lots and lots of food. Wifi internet was available free of charge throughout the hotel and there were also some computers in the lobby available for guests to use. There isnt much to do around the hotel, you have to walk around ten minutes to get to Damascus Gate. The hotel also offers a free shuttle to the Old City.

“Short Walk to Old City”

The room was nice, beds were firm. Breakfast was tasty with lots of choices, but not real orange juice (-). The staff was friendly and helpful with walking directions and calling cabs. The big plus was the short walk to the Old City. No way did we want to drive and park there. We left the car in the free hotel garage the whole weekend and walked or took cabs.

We were bummed that they didn't have a spa. A massage would have been nice.

Gift shop has strange hours.

“A better experience this time round”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Stayed about 6 nights in November 2011 as part of a large tour group.

The overall customer service (which I found non-existent or barely adequate the previous year) seems to have improved quite a fair bit. From the front desk staff to the waiters and cooks, there is an improved attitude. I even noticed smiles this time. Even the gym attendant, who sometimes disappeared from the gym and kept me locked out during supposed opening hours, was quite friendly.

Location-wise, the Grand Court now rates even better with a light rail station just 5 minutes away. Travelling to other parts of Jerusalem is now so much more convenient. Nearby attractions like the Old City, the Jaffa Street areas and the Sukh are now easily accessible on foot or by light rail.

I understand that free wi-fi was just implemented just after my stay, and must say that this is a huge plus point, which I look forward to on my next visit to Jerusalem.

All in all, I like the Grand Court more this year. Cheers.

“good, but....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Had a pleasant three nights here in December. Room was comfortable, complementary Internet was available in the lobby (but not in the room...they said some rooms have it). The gym had very limited hours, so we never saw it. Breakfast was excellent with a wide array of foods available on the buffet. Staff were helpful and gave us useful travel advice. The new tram ride provides an easy way to get to the Central Bus station and the Holocaust Museum, as well as the Old City (which is also walkable, though a bit of a hike).
