“Good accommodations next to the old city”

We are a couple in our 30's.
We spent a single night on Friday.

Dan Panorama Jerusalem is a good hotel in the center of Jerusalem, close to the old city and next to public transportation.
I wouldn't hesitate going there again if the price is right.

Pros:
1. Very good location, walking distance from major attraction such as the old city.
2. Comfortable and clean room: we ordered a standard room but received an upgrade to an executive room. strange since all the people ahead of us at check in received the same 'upgrade'.
3. Free parking - upon availability only. be there early.
4. breakfast was ok.
5. As we checked out on Saturday we were given an extension till 18:00. Can't beat that!

Cons:
1. A bit pricey for what you get (although there are much more pricier hotels in the vicinity).
2. Food is average, nothing to write home about.
3. It is a five star hotel but doesn't feel too luxurious.
4. No free internet access.

Bottom line: It is a good hotel but don't expect to be blown away. It will not be the highlight of your trip, but will provide a pleasant and relaxing stay.
Note: as this is winter time the pool and deck were closed.

Room Tip: Try getting a room with a view to the old city and not just a wall.

Rooms are sort of dingy, cleaning is haphazard. But the breakfast bar is superb and the location is great -- short walks to the Old City or Ben Yehuda St.

“Fantastic Location Helpful Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Dan Panorama Jerusalem is a wonderful hotel that is located in an ideal area. We were able to walk everywhere from the hotel -- even places that we thought were too far, judging from the map. The front desk staff was helpful with a number of our requests, including both storing our luggage on the day of our check out and arranging for transportation to Tel Aviv. The only negative (and it is something totally volunteer that the hotel in no way needed to provide) was a walking tour on Saturday which was conducted only in Hebrew. It would have been nice to have two guides provided, one English speaking and one Hebrew speaking. Again, it was an added bonus for the hotel to provide at all -- we went along anyway!

“Highly Recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

My wife, daughter and I have just (January 2012) spent nine days at the Dan Panorama in Jerusalem. We also stayed there for six days in 2006, and I have spent a week, on about eight occasions, at the hotel for work-related reasons.
The hotel is conveniently located (a ten-minute walk, at most, to the magnificent Yamin Moshe and Mishkenot Sha'ananim, 15 minutes or less to the great restaurants and shops on Emek Refaim and about the same distance to Mamila Mall, which leads directly to the Old City.) Transport into town by bus is on your doorstep and taxis/cabs are available at a moment's notice. The city centre (Ben Yehuda mall) is a brisk 20-minute walk away and quicker (downhill!) on return.

The rooms and facilities are fine. The recent renovations to the lobby are welcome, and the new (additional) lifts/elevators which have been added at the end of the lobby provide 'instant 'transport' to and from the eleven or so floors.

The food is fine, service speedy and breakfasts, characteristic of Israeli hotels, exceptional. Testament to the hotel is staff stability: I see the same staff members there year in and year out. Natalie is a relatively new-comer: she has been there for nigh on six years. Shimon, Issam, Shuki, Ihab and Nasser, among others, each have spent about two or more decades at the hotel. They know the place well, to say the least, are inordinately helpful and completly professional.
