“Very special hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

This hotel is built in a very old Arabic compound of buildings. The stile is Arabic - with arches, high ceilings and matching decoration. Some will love it, some less, but no one will be indifferent to it. Very nice Hamam (like a wet sauna, but bigger, decorated – you can ask for oil to massage your partner of yourself) and a nice hot tab just outside the Hamam, in the open air - so your body enjoy the hot water while your head is chilling in the cold air while listening to the bells of the Jerusalem churches. Overall very nice hotel. The breakfast was nice, even though they could do some better in decorating the dining room. The room we got was huge - I could live in the bathroom. The service was very good and responsive.

Room Tip: Ask for a view to the old town!

“Charming and a little different, Shabbat some of the amineties are closed.”

I like this hotel, i frequented it several times. It is built ona side of a hill, well it decends into a valley to be more percise so the lobby ( ground floor) is actually the top floor ! the reception area is wonderful . Big windows overlooking the valley and the old city walls. The outdoor Swimming pool is on the bottom floor m novice set up. For the non observant or secular, on Shabbath , the pool bar /diner is closed :(

“Worst hotel i have ever stayed at - a total rip off”

We were part of a large Bar Mitzvah group & booked an executive suite. The place was old & dingy -nothing like the photo's showed. What was worse was the price paid of $648/night- in hindsight staying at the David Citadel would have been a much better choice.
Position is in the middle of nowhere & if you want to use the internet service, you need to pay for every device.
Stay away from this place-its a shocker & needs to be pulled down!

“Comfortable hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

I stayed for 5 nights in December 2011 and found the Mount Zion to be a comfortable base for exploring Jerusalem. It's about a 10 minute walk up a steep hill to get to Jaffa Gate and Mamila mall. Certainly doable if you're a walker - it wasn't an option for my parents in their 70s, but taxis were easy to come by in front of the hotel. The room itself was not as exotically furnished as the hotel's photos show - it was simple and clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom is ok - not particularly new shower, but serviceable and clean. The hotel has beautiful views of the Old City and Mount of the Olives, a lovely garden and an excellent breakfast. The front desk staff spoke English and were always friendly and helpful. There is a good restaurant called Lavan down the street in the Cinematheque - otherwise, I didn't see anything close to the hotel.

“Quite nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Very good location for access to the Old City and the German Quarter. A bit dated, but very well maintained and good service.
