“This hotal has no competent manager. We would not return for another vacation”

We came for a 2 nights vacation after our planned trip to Egypt was cancelled due to the coop. Lovely location, beautiful building and a nice greeting at the front desk.
Our disappointment started very soon:
In the room the bed sheets were not clean and stained. They were not changed from previous sleeper. The extra blanket smelled of massage-oil. The light bulb in the bathroom was not working and the remote for the TV did not work. All were fixed within about an hour. The (empty) room refrigerator is very noisy so I had to disconnect to from the power and the toilet flushing system leaks and is noisy in a way that interferes with sleep. The hotel offers DVD movies to be seen in the room: a large selection of DVD boxes that are almost all empty- no disk inside. In order to change the TV to display DVD, one has to call a staff person as this has to do with cumbersome setup of both TV and the cable system.
They can provide with only one key to the room so when one is taking a massage and the other is strolling in the gardens my wife and me had to fully synchronize our activities or wait for a staff member to open your room.
I took a bath after the long drive. It is a nice bathroom but soiled with mildew. As I was soaped and wanted to rinse, the hot water finished. I rubbed off the soap and wanted to use the bath-robe, but it was too small (sorry- no larger size bathrobes in this hotel...) and tried to call the front desk using the in-house telephone, but there was no answer. I got the answer immediately as I used my cellular phone to call their outside line.
There is a 24 hour tea and coffee spot, very nicely and richly arranged, with various types of teas, garden herbs and coffee. Also, some cookies and some cake were provided, but no milk. To get milk we had to locate a staff person, not always available, who may or may not return with milk.
The pool was deserted, with a big sign indicating the no swimming when lifeguard is not there, but the lifeguard was never there. So we just used the hot-tub. Nor were there towels in the pool area. They brought us towels after we went to the front desk and asked.
Food is mediocre. In the first morning the breakfast buffet was OK, somewhat below the standard of large hotels in Israel. The next morning, as the hotel was relatively empty, the brought a tray to our table with not many items to chose from and some stuff did not look or taste fresh. Dinner was also disappointing served with toasted bread left from breakfast.
Massage treatment was also mediocre.
Despite the positive fact that the staff was uniformly very nice, for a price the charge, they should provide much more.
One person, a manager, who would care, could have improved our experience during this hotel stay dramatically. It seems that no one cares.

Dear Guest,
I am sorry you were not able to enjoy the typical experience usually found in our Hotel. Please rest assured that every single comment you made has been brought to upper managements and all has been taken care of and improved. We take pride in some of the extras we offer and we will make sure those extras are more easily accessible for example:
DVD's, full cable TV, delicious Galillean style breakfast, supreme crisp white sheets made from the best quality, attentive service, relaxing forest oriented spa treatments.
We look forward to showing you all these qualities and amenities on your next visit.

“amazing location, too religious”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2010

i assume that under the previous ownership this place was spectacular.
now its under the guidance of a religious owner, and everything has gown downhill.
the food and service is horrendous. there is no service of any kind. the pool is so cold with a bored and rude poolboy. we went for a holiday here. thats means no coffee, because on holiday you cant turn the coffee machine on (but somehow the elevators and other electric appliances can work?) breakfast is NEVER on time. with young kids, this is a problem.
its too bad, because the hardware here is very good. amazing location, great viewes, great air. lets hope its gets a new propertier that will restore it to what it can be.
for the price they charge i expected much much much more.

Dear Guest,
I am sorry that you felt the way you did on your recent visit to our Hotel. We hope the next time you are a guest by us you will experience a much more complete and high level stay.
I wanted to just make note of a few details:
1) The weather during you stay was 23C. Hotel industry standards is to heat the pool only when weather is below 19C.
2) Although the kitchen is now Kosher the food and vendors are the same. However, we have made the improvements needed to make sure the food is served on a high level at all times.
2) 90% of all hotels in Israel are Kosher and therefor all food and beverage service must adhere to kosher laws. Elevators and other appliances are guest operated and they can use them at there own discretion.

“A disturbing vacation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2010

This weekend we drove to this Bait Baglali Paradise in the heart of Birya forest, one of the nicest in Israel. This place is one of the most beautiful Boutique hotels Israel has to offer. The place is like a paradise. Well maintained with state of the art touches in decor and furniture. The room is very pampering and specious and the noise of the birds on the trees surrounding Bait Bagalil make you feel in heaven. And you can not imagine a more posh and scenic place you wish to spend the weekend. No kids around. No entertainment teams to make noise by the pool. No cars or vehicles engines. A real vacation.

However, as the place is so well maintained there is something very disturbing with the atmosphere and the staff that serves you. The place lacks spirit. Nothing really happens there. It’s a boring place, at list for our taste. No music in the bar. No culinary festivities. No people around. Are they all in their room during evening hours?

In the morning we popped to the pool area. The water in the beautiful pool are very cold and no one dares going inside. The pool man promises to heat the water shortly, however its Shabbat and he really can not touch the electricity as it is a Kosher hotel. The water are still freezing after 2-3 hours.

Dinner is mediocre and the posh dining hall is always empty and extremely quiet. No real gastronomy to enjoy. Breakfast is served on an impressive buffet, but the food is there for hours without a chilling system for the dairy products and no refreshing of the items. At the same time the head waiter and the chef are busy chatting while sitting next to the hotel entrance instead of making sure the guests are happy. Hardly any one to assist you during breakfast time. Were is the restaurant staff?

We fail to understand how come there is no turn down service in our room in the evening. We had to use the wet towels in the morning again. In fact in the 24 hours we were there no one from housekeeping came or called to make sure we are contempt or satisfied

We love the gardens in Bait Bagalil. However the sick fig tree next to the kitchen made as very sad. We wish the Gardner will save it with extra care, or chop it away. Please !
For the extremely very very high rate, Kosher Bait Bagalil is unfortunately not value for money anymore.

“Price close to King David- but that is all”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2010

For the price of this hotel i expect a lot. Hotel fails on the small things. Positives- beautiful if remote location- ( long drive up to hotel reminds one of trying to drive on Amalfi coasts narrow winding roads ) Hotel clean and pleasant- pool wonderful- free wifi (rare in Israel )
Negatives- the breakfast was good but limited selections- and no Nova- had to ask for an orange as they add tap water and sugar to orange juice- at this price? We stayed 2 nights- free water on first- they seemed surprised i expected water to be replaced on second (they removed empty bottles) Service pleasant but limited- . Maybe i'm spoiled by Asia- but when a room and breakfast goes over $400 - i expect the King David

“one of the most beautiful places i have ever stayed in. unparalleled!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2010

remarkable setting in the middle of the breathtaking Biryia Forest. the views include the historic an beautiful village of Rosh PIna, the Kinneret, the southern Golan Heights and the Hula Valley. On a clear day the views are spectacular. the food is gourmet and i believe possibly the best in the country. of are numerous trips to Israel this was by far the best food we've ever had. the staff was warm, with an excellent attention to detail. the rooms are simple and appropriate for a charming estate in the forest. the spa is small but unique in that the therapists take a personal interest in each guest and provide nutrition and health insights and direction. been around the world - can't top Bayit Bagalil!
