My partner and I stayed @ Pausa for 2 glorious nights. The hosts are incredibly hospitable and welcoming. The absolute highlight of our stay was the amazing multicourse food and wine extravaganza that we had for Shabbot dinner. Everything was homemade and prepared with the utmost care. After having this superb dinner we were invited to watch a food themed movie courtesy of the hosts. Would highly recommend this unique and marvelous place.

The garden and surrounding landscape... breathtaking; the quiet...deafening; the concept...unique...(when did you last stay in a hotel/inn with a philosophy that was an extension of the personal beliefs and values of the owners and not of a corporate marketing staff?); the interaction of hosts Einat and Avigdor, and guests creates an atmosphere of cordiality and conviviality; and the food.....the food, a feast for ALL the senses! In a country most known to the rest of the world for turmoil and unrest, Pausa is a sanctuary of calm and sanity for those times when "the world is too much with us" and we need to be reminded to savor our surroundings, our companions, and the food and drink we put into our bodies.

N.B.They have an outstanding website....definitely worth a read! Just try not to drool on your keyboard!!!

The owners prepare an absolutely delicious multi-course dinner with wine on Thursday and Friday nights, and a full breakfast is available every day as part of the room rate. Rooms are simple, but elegant and comfortable. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful Slow Food Experience in the Upper Galilee

On the evening of April 23, my mother and I had the absolute pleasure of sharing in Pausa's slow food dinner experience - I say "experience" because the evening surpassed the description of a meal. The evening started off with a sampling of hors d'oeuvres and wine, providing the guests an opportunity to meet and mingle with each other. We then all gathered around the single banquet table with our hosts and proprietors Einat & Avigdor at the head. Avigor described each dish as it was delivered, explaining the ingredients - most of which were grown in Pausa's own garden or their neighbors - and the techniques used to create the offering. As the evening progressed, with each course surpassing the previous and the wines pouring freely, the group - most stranger just hours earlier - grew close and chatted in a mix of Hebrew and English (for our benefit).

Unfortunately, there was not room available for us to stay that evening but Einat kindly arranged for a splendid room for us a short distance away at their friends' guest house. However, we did have an opportunity to see one of the rooms and I would say they are well appointed and seemed very comfortable.

Overall, it was a memorable and wonderful evening. I look forward to the opportunity to share a table with Einat & Avigdor again.

I stayed at Pausa Inn in the northern Galilee in early May 2008, and it was just terrific. It is a peaceful and relaxing place, with very nicely appointed rooms, a great location near the Banias River natural area, and one of the most bountiful (organic) gardens I have ever seen. They have literally hundreds of different fresh fruits and vegetables growing -- and they make great use of this produce in their cooking. Fresh berries and cream, fresh pesto, every green vegetable you can name -- all prepared creatively and personally by the owners, Avigdor Rotem and his wife, Einat.
This was my first trip to Israel, and my experience at Pausa made it quite memorable. We had a large party of about a dozen, gathered for a 40th birthday weekend, and they were flexible, generous, and warm hosts. I will return to the beautiful Galilee region, and I will stay at Pausa. I can recommend it without hesitation.

  • Liked — Gracious hosts, great food, nice rooms, Galilee location
  • Disliked — Nothing -- I wouldn't change a thing.
