“Terrible noisy hotel, Skip it.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2008

B/c of Noise from a disco club neighbor to the hotel we couldn't sleep all night! rooms windows' are not noise-proof.
About the 'Sport': there is no sport activity that the hotel is arranging (why?) like contests / kids play and the sports' facilities are not in a very good shape.
The kids club is very poor.
Pool was ok, Beach was ok.
Food is 4*, don't expect more...
Overall: kids enjoyed the pool and other attractions in Eilat, parents were tired and enjoyed less, much less...

Stayed August 2008

“Hotel from hell!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2008

This is the worst hotel I have every stayed at in Israel and you could say the world - even worse than a room on nathan street in Hong Kong. Do not even think about staying in this hotel unless you like screaming people stuffing there faces in a cockroach invested dining room while eating terrible army food- sorry maybe in the army the food is better. They did not even have a description next to the food to say what it was. I suppose you can't write dry meat and plain lumpy dry rice
The room – we took the Olympic suite, big with no view because it's on the first floor. Dirty – I found dirt on the carpet, seeds under the air conditioner and we didn't bring any seeds. I found curly hair on the sheets. Smelly mini bar. This I suffered in silence but started to get really mad when at 1 in the morning I heard kids running in the passage and motorbikes and cars passing on the street. So I checked that the windows where closed and found that one side could not lock. Next morning I asked to be moved and as an Isrotel club member luckily I was moved to the lagoona hotel. Much better. Quite and clean and much better staff, which I found non-existence in the Sport hotel and after both hotels pr helped us to move (3 families) the lady in charge at the Sport hotel (Angela) spoke to us in such a rude manner, all we wanted to do was run! We lost 1 1/2 days of our 4 day holiday in all of this and we all felt that our holiday only started on Friday night instead of Thursday. We ,all 14 of us including our kids ,were so shocked that we said we would never go there even for free!.
Seriously, do not stay in this hotel and it's a shame that it belongs to Isrotel which is usually the best chain of hotels in Isreal- next time I will stay at a Isrotel hotel but not this one.Isrotel should seriously think of selling it or closing it down for renovations as everything needs redoing. This hotel is very bad for there image.

“noisy hotel”

we visited many hotels in Eilat for the last few years, inclding twice before in Sport hotel

this time was awful.
the hotel was noisy. ppl are talking so loud and many time screaming (both adults and childrens) in the dining rooms that it's imposible to sit quitely to have your meal. the staff though are nice, friendly and polite will do nothing to make it quiter.
visitors will sit in the lobby with their feet on tables, and many time will smoke, and again the staff will do nothing to stop this behiviour.
Spoked with the staff few times about it.
this is FB hotel, with free drinks and icecreams (and cakes at afternoon). this is the reason many ppl having young kids like this hotel

the food was mostly cold, and there was the same food for all meals (we stayed for 3 days)

the rooms are big enough, and clean.
the hotel is located at very good place, not far from the sea.

I'll never get back to this hotel.

“Romper Room!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2006

I must explain my "3" rating. We stayed at the Sport hotel for 3 nights in late July, 2006. The hotel itself is excellent -- spotless --they are obsessed with cleaning. Modern, great room (large, clean, with a balcony and view of the Red Sea). Clean, large pool, with a pool bar and plenty of pool chairs. Exceptional breakfast, lunch, and dinner. BUT we have never seen or heard so many children in one hotel. When we arrived, we actually thought there was a field trip or some kind of event event going on, because anywhere you were -- the pool, the dining room, the lobby -- was FILLED with kids running around. Because of this alone, I would give it a 1 rating.

We don't know if the hotel caters to children (like Las Vegas' Circus Circus) and is always filled with them, or if this was just an exception due to the war going on in the North (we met a number of families who had come to Eilat because they were from the North and were no longer safe). But regardless, little kids heavily outnumbered adults.

We were so impressed with the food, which was beautifully presented, plentiful, extremely high-quality, well-prepared, and fresh from their kitchens, BUT could never seem to enjoy any of our meals because the dining area was FILLED with little kids. As if the sheer numbers of little ones was not bad enough, the main problem was that many of them were of the screaming / crying / running around uncontrolled / climbing all over the hotel's furniture variety. We were at breakfast on our last day, and 3 little kids were climbing all over the dining room booths and the ledges which surrounded them, with neither the parents, nor the hotel staff, saying anything. Don't get me wrong, we love kids, but draw the line when they are screaming in our ears or otherwise intruding on our experience, or just plain destroying property!

On the plus side, staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, extremely hardworking, and helpful. They really work hard and go out of their way to make your experience a good one. We lost our cell phone one day, and not only did several staff members stop what they were doing to help us look for it, one of them gave us his phone to borrow. (!) (Another staff member had found it in the dining room and turned it in to security.)

So make what you will of our experience -- great hotel and great staff, but it felt like a kindergarten / day care center where the children are allowed to just run wild. This is not the hotel's fault, of course, but if they are in fact catering to families with kids, they might want to reconsider or at least limit their bookings.
