“Do not stay in winter”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I'm sure this place is fine in nice weather, maybe even nice. In winter, there is no central heating and the room unit is nowhere near adequate to heat up the place. I slept in two pairs of long johns, my jeans, my sweater, my coat. It was no fluke either, as I met another traveler who bailed on the place and was told by the proprietor that all rooms were the same and there was nothing to be done. It wasn't really that cold out, either...

“Great location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012 via mobile

I can definitely see what makes Boomerang so popular in the summer. The location is great, the staff fun and interesting, and the actual guesthouse is beautiful.

For us, the price was good and so were the showers. The only drawbacks were the lack of heating apparati in the dorm room and the slightly unclean bathrooms. Just ask for extra blankents and wear flip flops and you will be fine.

“Abdulla..host extraordinaire”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

The Boomerang is well situated near the museum, the dolmus parking area, bars and restaurants. Abdulla speaks English quite well and it very willing to assist in translations when seeking transportation or lodging. The hotel is recently remodeled and quite inviting. We had a smaller room which was nicely arranged with new furnishings and a large bathroom with plenty of hot water. A Turkish breakfast is furnished, but they will do whatever it takes to accommodate your tastes if cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese and olives are not your idea of breakfast fare. The terrace on the rooftop is where people hang out and watch the tube, enjoy complimentary tea and coffee, game, read, enjoy alcoholic beverages that you must supply.
We were there in January so the adjoining bar and restaurant were not open, but Mehmet & Alibaba's next door offers excellent Turkish cuisine at very reasonable prices. The spiced meatball kebab is well worth $5/10TL and comes with rice, pommes frites and salad. From the museum turn up the hill at the HSBC ATM and the Boomerang is on the right.

Room Tip: Abdulla also has a bunk room for backpackers.

“Great location and value”

Perfect location. 3min from the bus station. Right next door to one of the best and friendliest restaurants we've been to throughout our whole trip and very helpful staff if you have any enquiries. Someone even picked us up from the bus station upon our arrival, which was a nice surprise for us. We didnt even tell them our specific bus schedule.
The only downside, breakfast was quite limited. They served us a plate of food each instead of the normal breakfast buffet.

Overall, its a value for money and amazing hostel.

“Best guest house in Selcuk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

We arrived there without a reservation and found Abdullah and Tom so very helpful and accommodating. Abdullah suggested...and even organized a fabulous itinery whilst we stayed in Selcuk and then spent a considerable time finding cheap flights from Izmir back to Istanbul (which included a free shuttle bus to Izmir). Nothing was too much trouble.
Being part of the grey nomads (2 Senior Australian women travelling together) we certainly appreciated their kind assistance.
We are definitely intending to return to stay at the Boomerang with another "senior" friend next year and once again look forward to their kind hospitality.
The breakfast was fantastic!!! and good value with a great variety of choices all freshly made.
The room was very clean and comfortable but best we loved sitting on the terrace watching the storks in their nests.
It was such a friendly place and we met another couple there and joined them later in Istanbul.
Altogether it was great value for money, ambiance was fantastic and we were very well satisfied.
