“Fantastic place to stay!”

We stayed at Hotel Bella in May 2011. The owners were extremely helpful, going over possible itineraries, driving us to Ephesus & back... The food at the rooftop restaurant was delicious with attentive staff. Our room was pleasant and spotless with a little balcony where we could sit in the evenings to have a glass of wine & write in our journal. Wonderful view of a stork nest from our window. Lovely ceramic/carpet store in the hotel, but absolutely no pressure from the owners. It was walking distance to the museum, across the street from the Basilica of St. John, had easy, free parking, fabulous service, price was very reasonable.... what more could we need?! Would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

“Short But Memorable Stay at Bella”

We felt lucky to have gotten rooms having shown up unannounced, hoping for the best. Hotel Bella is a beautiful little place, with a great rooftop restaurant and unique rooms full of textiles and craftwork. Given its location directly beside the ruins of St. John’s Basilica, you can’t help but feel you’ve landed somewhere exclusive. The owner and staff did a wonderful job. We set up a private tour of Esphesus with ease, had an enjoyable meal upstairs, acquired a rug or two at Bella's adjacent shop, and capped the evening off with an enjoyable few rounds on the shisha. By the time we left (the next day) the staff was burning us a cd of their favorite folk music for our car ride. Our stay was short but quite cozy, and we’ll always recommend Bella with grins from ear to ear.

“Helpful staff; great deal off-season”

We spent three nights at Hotel Bella in November 2011. The staff was very helpful in orienting us to Selcuk and the nearby historical sites. Even though we had a rental car, they drove us to Ephesus so we could walk the ruins in one direction and not have to double back to the car park. They dropped us off with instructions to have the book seller (souvenir stalls galore at site exit) call the hotel when we were ready to be picked up. Breakfast was good and with their restaurant closed for the season they suggested good places in town.

“Charming in every way.”

The excellent service from this Hotel starts from your first contact. The response to emails was very prompt with a great deal of information and suggestions. We stayed just the one night but it was very memorable. The building itself is charming. The decor and touches of detail are excellent. The whole place was spic and span. The welcoming drink to the suggested itineraries is friendly and helpful. Our room was delightful with a small balcony and fitted our family of 4. I highly recommend the dinner on the roof terrace. This meal was one of our favourites in Turkey. The breakfast was also great. A must stay if you are going to Efesus.

“Charming, quaint, hospitable.”

The previous 3 reviews were not at all reflective of our experience at Hotel Bella on 11/22 & 23. Our stay was quite pleasant. Hotel Bella provided accommodations for us at the last minute when there was a mix up with our reservations in another city. The rooms were on the smallish side - but larger than many found in Europe. They were clean and beautifully decorated. I noticed no odors and the hotel was very quiet - although visiting midweek could account for a quieter less busy hotel.

The hotel staff did mention that the tile and carpet shop was open but we felt no pressure to buy anything or even visit the shop. In fac,t when we did decide to browse there was no one in the shop at all.

We enjoyed hot tea on the balcony for a couple of hours in the evening and were brought cup after cup of delicious hot apple tea while we talked and read. My only regret was that we visited at a time when the outdoor balcony could not be fully appreciated due to the colder weather. There was a fire in the fireplace and it was relaxing and very charming. Breakfast the next morning on the balcony was satisfying and quite lovely.

The window in the bathroom of our room would not close completely and created a draft in the room, but there were extra warm blankets in the armoire and we were comfortable. It would have been nice to have the room preheated for us, but we did arrive unannounced!

The next morning the hotel clerk helped us with directions to Aphrodisias about 2 hours away from Selcuk - a wonderful destination I might add. I would recommend Hotel Bella to friends and would love to have the opportunity to stay there again.

Room Tip: The triple room with 3 single beds was roomy and very beautiful.
