“budget quality with a five star bill”

This hovel should be shut down. Filthy grey bed linen and towels, single sheet only, topped by torn cotton blanket, in a room with broken furniture and rock hard beds greets the unsuspecting guest. If you are unlucky enough to get a room below the rooftop restaurant you will hear every chair scrape and every belch from the undiscriminating diners who can tolerate the unpalatable food on offer. Fetid toilet brush and waste bin in the bathroom complement the general atmosphere of decay, while the window looks out over a collection of dessicated weeds, carefully arranged in totally neglected boxes.

The noise from the late night revellers on the rooftop of the hotel on the other side of the street will keep you awake into the small hours, as there is no attempt at sound proofing.

For the experience the bill was €70 per night. It is undoubtedly the worst value accommodation I have experienced, and, indeed, the worse accommodation, period.

Room Tip: Look elsewhere.

“made the trip perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

i recently spent 2 weeks traveling through the west coast of turkey with my mom- instanbul to selcuk. my mother and i travel well together and typically we search out small hotels, or small bed and breakfasts. we came upon the akay hotel by chance, from the Lonely Planet book on Turkey. What a find! Rhia will do what ever it takes to make your stay a wonderful one. Her extended family is involved as well, and they are just as pleasant, dotting, helpful, and fun to share a meal or a hookah with. a trip to this beautiful part of Turkey would not be complete without a stay at this hotel. and the food is fabulous, the pool lovely, and the rooms immaculate.

enjoy...

“A friendly place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Ria and Etam were very helpful in organising my travel to Ephesus, Pamucak beach and other places I wanted to visit, often at no charge or just cost of petrol. They are gentle and kind and worth getting to know.

When you travel solo you may sometimes want company, and for that the breakfast terrace is great. Lovely views and sunsets. I really like the location too - a few steps out of the main drag, the road to town on a palm lined road with beautiful architecture.

I asked for a room in the newer section, and was really pleased with my room.

“Wonderful family hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011 via mobile

This great little hotel is tuck away in a small village street but only minutes from the mosque, St John's basilica and town. Fabulous breakfast buffet on a rooftop terrace with great views. And the clean, fresh pool was heaven sent. Staff have excellent English too.

“incredibly helpful people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

The hotel owners/staff arranged absolutely everything for us, including bus tickets for our onward journey and, believe it or not, the return of my e-book reader when I left it on the bus from Selcuk to Ortaca. The hotel itself is a comfortable family-run B&B type arrangement, basic, but with a lot of nice extras, eg a pool, cheap laundry service and water bottle refills. Our hotel stay was the main reason behind our impression that Selcuk is a friendly, welcoming, low-key place and a joy to visit for the nearby sights.
