We were booked into the Cenka Hotel by a travel agent in Istanbul. We were travelling on a budget and certainly were not expecting a palace but this place was horrible. We were given the key to a double room and went to drop our bags off. At first glance we were extremely disappointed. The room was tiny, the towels on the bed had obviously been white many years ago but were now a worn dirty grey colour. The bathroom was tiny and it looked like the enamel on the floor of the shower had worn off. The window sills were filthy and the whole place was aged and not clean. I have seen more attractive looking jail cells...and judging from the state of the room would not have been happy to eat in the hotel. After a brief council of war with my spouse we rang our travel agent and told them we were not happy and not prepared to stay at the Cenka. We were told to go downstairs where we would be met by a local travel agent who would take us to another hotel. We went downstairs and told the woman at reception that we were leaving and gave her back the key. She immediately offered to upgrade us to a bigger room so obviously there were better rooms on offer. Perhaps she should have given us the key to one of those as opposed to the little cell we were assigned. The hotel lobby is worn out and old and the whole place looks tired.. Even if they did have a bigger room I would not have good expectations of it. We ended up moving down the road to the Antik Hotel and spent 4 very pleasant nights there. Both hotels cost around 60TKL per night but the Antik Hotel was far superior in cleanliness and service.

We stayed in Selcuk just for Ephesus. The hotel is very basic, rooms are clean enough to be comfortable but don't expect too much. The washroom is very small but for just one night, it really doesn't quite matter, as long as I could take a shower. The staffs are very helpful. The hotel is very close to the bus station where you can find all taxis / tours / local bus to get everywhere so that's a big selling point. All in all, if you're just looking to stay a night or two and is travelling on budget, this is not bad at all

We chose to stay in Celcuk rather than Kusadaci, because we were just passing through with a stop at Ephesus. Kusadaci, with all of it's mega resorts was not what we were looking for. We wanted a more authentic experience, which we had in Celcuk. We paid 60TL for a room for 2 including breakfast. Free wifi works in lobby,

This hotel was walking distance from the market and there were many dining choices. It is less than 5km to Ephesus.

A large foyer containing a large screen TV and the dining room at one end. About 10 minutes walk out of town but easy to find.
Our room was large but pretty basic. Twin beds, tiled floor, rudimentary furniture, a small colour TV, (no english channels) and a little fridge. The room was well lit and pretty painted. There was a small clean bathroom but hot water was limited.
Reception staff were good but there weren't many other staff in evidence.
The breakfast was tomato, cucumber, olives, and boiled eggs. Tea and instant coffee also available.
