“Good base for visiting Ephesus”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2012

Stayed at this small friendly pension in October and were more than happy with our choice.

The rooms are simple and clean and comfortable and everything you would expect from a good budget pension, and there’s also free wifi available, although I can’t remember if we were able to access it from the room.

Breakfast was included and comprised some of the Turkish standards people would be familiar with such as olives, cheese, tomatoes and egg, along with tea of course!!

Location is just a short walk from the bus station and the centre of town, and around a half hour walk from Ephesus if you are feeling energetic enough.

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and with the owners help we were able to organise a hire car at quite reasonable rates to spend a fantastic day exploring the ancient sites of Priene, Miletus, and the day’s highlight – the Temple of Apollo at Didyma (well worth a visit if you have time).

Happy to recommend Kiwi Pension and would be more than happy to stay again if we ever come back to Selcuk.

“a welcome respite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

Kiwi Pension was a great value and comfortable stay for us. We had planned to stay only one night, but Alison helped us arrange our time in Selcu to make the most of it, and we ended up staying two nights. Our room was already booked for the second night, but she was able to offer us a room without a private bath and without A/C (it wasn't hot) which worked out very well. In addition to Ephesus, we were able to see the church of St. John, the Temple of Artemis, the aqueduct ruins in Selcuk, and most interestingly, the Saturday market in town. The breakfast included in our room rate was fillling and delicious, with local veggies, cheese and olives. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: If you are on an extreme budget, ask for the basement rooms, which are cheaper, but spotlessly clean...

“Great pension in Selcuk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

We stayed at the Kiwi Pension for three nights in August. The owner Alison is very friendly and helpful and it was refreshing to see a native English speaker who is also fluent in Turkish. The pension is in a good location in a quiet residential area and from there it is a very short walk into Selcuk town. Our room was upstairs and had a balcony looking out onto the street. The room was very clean with our own bathroom and we had a small fridge which was very helpful for keeping our water cool.

The other staff at the pension were very friendly including the young man that served us breakfast and the housekeeper returned our laundered clothes very promptly and immaculately.

The swimming pool is located a few kilometres away from the pension, on the road to Ephesus. As we had a car, we were able to drive there.

Alison is very knowledgable about Selcuk and the surrounding area. She recommended some great restaurants including the Selcuk Koftecesi which we visited on three occasions (the kofte is one of the best we have tried). We really enjoyed Selcuk and from our base at the Kiwi Pension, we were able to do some great day trips including a visit to the beautiful Dilek Peninsula (which is wonderful for swimming).

We would definitely recommend staying at the Kiwi Pension and it is a great base for exploring the local area.
