“Don't stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2010

We arrived at the Rose hotel at 7:30pm and tried to enter the lobby. The manager said to us angrily, "We closed at 7, you're here too late. Come back in the morning" We protested that we had a reservation and he kept saying that it wasn't his problem and come back tomorrow. Finally he laughed and said he was joking and let us in. I didn't think that "joke" was very funny and we did not stay here.

“Read this and think twice before you spoil your hholiday!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2010

From a personal experience, i would advise you all to book somewhere else to save your holiday memories (frequent holiday makers will understand what I mean here). There is nothing worse than going to a hotel from hell and spoil the time spent in Istanbul. Services are not as advertised; so don’t get fooled by the advert. The quality of the rooms and services would amount to a zero standard and staffs employed there (including the owner) are a group of buffoons with no sense of knowledge of what is needed to be done. I’m sure that budget travels might not have an option, but I’m also sure that there are a lot of hotels in that area with far more better facilities. I’ve seen and spoken to few people who checked in and checked out the following morning, they left with arguments with hotel staff over the services promised and not delivered!!! I would say that staying in this place will always bring bad memories if the word Istanbul mentioned. Enjoy your holiday away from this place.

“Save your holiday before it starts !”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2010

This hotel does not provide any of the services that are described on booking sites such as lastminute.com. The rooms are small and to be quite frank need to be fumigated regularly to keep the bugs out !. Most rooms DO NOT come with En Suite facilities; rather you will have to take a stroll through the corridors to your allocated wash facility.
Moroever these facilities also look like they needed a thorough clean, I found hair and dead bugs in mine, thats after it was apparently cleaned.
The Hotel is located at a very busy junction, frequented by heavy traffc (Horn happy Coaches, lorries etc) throughout the day and night .
Also regarding the staff, apart from Mehmet the manager, the rest are absolute muppets, in particular the waiter/night worker - a misersable, unhelpful and misersable buffoon.
Istanbul is a great city, in particular the SultanAhmet area is rich in cultural, be it the architecture of the buildings or its customs and tradition.
I would never ever recommend anyone spoil their holiday with super-sub-standard accomodation which the Rose Hotel epitomises.
Cheap standard. Cheap Quality & Cheap Staff.
Please be advised this is an absolute honest reflection of my stay at this hotel.

“good hotel for its location and price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2009

We stayed in September 2009, found that the hotel is very convenient for sight seeing and local transport. The Breakfast is very simple,a few slice of bread ,butter, jam, tea and coffee. most rooms are small and no air conditioned.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.

“very basic small rooms/bathrooms which is expected given the price, but excellent location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2009

Stayed at Rose Hotel for 4 nights, staff were very friendly. The rooms themselves are very compact, and the bathrooms have very little room (just a shower head, no shower tray etc) but for the price you can't complain. Also has a internet cafe (4 YTL for an hour) and free wireless if you have a laptop.

The hotel is in a very good location, blue mosques is 5 mins, Topkapi palace, hagia sofia is 5 mins, all major tourist attractions are in a walking distance (Avoid the yellow cabs which are very very expensive, just walk!) The seafront is also a 5 min walk away.

Would only recommend this hotel because of its location but nothing else!
