Deniz Houses is the best value I've found in Sultanahmet. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and professional. The women who orchestrated the cleaning and the breakfast/tea were especially kind. The breakfast is well above average for an Istanbul hotel: they made a delicious scalloped potato and had a good variety of cold selections. Best of all, you can enjoy breakfast or tea with a lovely rooftop view of the Marmara and much of the city (the rooftop is enclosed and heated in winter). 3 p.m. tea on this rooftop was a relaxing and convivial midday break. Rooms were very nice and had nearly everything one could need. The location is excellent.

All in all, this is the best value I've found in Sultanahmet. I expected very little for the price, but was surprised to find a dignified small business that clearly takes pride in providing a unique and comfortable service.

My stay at Deniz Houses B was lovely.
Good location: all main attractions are within walking distance, and the kucuk ayasofia street was full of minimarkets and nice restaurants.
My twin room was very clean and spacious enough for two guests and big luggage. Large shower with hot water running 24/24 (i tested it with a shower at 3 am, no problem).
Good heating in both rooms, even too hot, had to turn it down.
Very good homemade breakfast on the third floor panoramic terrace. Good choice, there is enough to suit different tastes.
Nice and helpful staff, did very good arranging transfers, laundry and other things.

Overall: quality service at very low cost. I would definitely recommend this hotel for travellers of all budgets.

I stayed at the "Deniz Houses" in the "B" building some days ago, and felt totally satisfied with this little hotel.
I got 3 stars deluxe quality service at the price of a bed and breakfast.
My twin room was large enough for guests with big luggage. Very clean and warm, very enjoyable when coming back from the freezing cold outside.

3 story bulding with terrace on the higher floor, no lift.
Nice street a few steps from kucuk ayasofia cadde, with its restaurants and mini markets.
15 min. walking from Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Great.
24/24 reception, staff is friendly and helpful with transfers (recommended), laundry and other facilities.
Overall: absolutely recommended for travellers of all budgets.

I stayed for three nights in November, the rooms were kept warm and clean. Room size was ok. The staff are very friendly, always eager to help. The breakfast variety was limited. The hotel is very close to the Blue Mosque and Arasta Bazar, the view from the terrace is beautiful.
