First of all, I must say I haven't got anything to complain about. The location is perfect (that was the reason for choosing this hotel): most of the main attractions are within walking distance and the tram stop just around the corner as well the harbour very near make it easy to move around. There're also many restaurants around.
The front desk personel were friendly and polite. When after making reservation I asked by email about the ferry timetables and possibilities to transportation to the airport, I got answer immediately - written in good English. I was told the transportation would cost 25 € (that's for the private one), but when checking in I asked shuttle service, the price was only about 5 €! Of course sometimes it can mean having to circulate around the city, but in this case i was the last one to be picked up, so we then continued directly to the airport. The mini bus had been overbooked and I didn't see any problem standing all the way to the airport, but the driver insisted one of the younger men to give me a seat :-).
The room was clean and so was the bathroom, the heating was functioning... As I stayed only one night and left early in the morning, I didn't have time for breakfast, so I'm not able to comment it. Propably fine, as all the rest.
But there was something missing: the charm and feeling you're in Istanbul. Normally I don't pay much attention in such things - especially if I've chosen a budget hotel - but after having stayed in some other budget hotels in Sircesi distrinct, I couldn't help comparing them. With some little changes - more colours, some nice decoration and textiles - Ersu could be so much more attractive. Yes, the little things make the difference... In no budget hotel elsewhere I'd expect someone to carry my luggage to the room, but in the Sircesi hotels I've been coddled and was almost surprised having to do it here by myself :-).
