“FOR EUR 50, IT'S A STEAL!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Small, homey, 3-story hotel in central Sultanahmet. Easy walkable access to main sights.
Double room + breakfast for EUR 50. Owner Hamit very friendly, helpful. So is other staff.
Situated on main touristic street full of shops, restaurants.
Rooms small, not tiny, clean, bright, with large windows, small TV, large bed, spotless bathroom.
Room overlooking street. Double glazing windows block off 90% of noise. If open, hum-drum below is not so bad. Sounds from reception can be heard on 1st floor rooms.
Breakfast basic, nutritious on top floor overlooking Sultanahmet and Ayasofya mosques.
Would go again.

Room Tip: Low prices do not mean bad quality hotel, but check room before paying.

“If I went back to IST, I'd return to this hotel”

This is a small hotel, located on a busy, vibrant and active street in the tourist section of Sultanhamet. The Ayasofya & Blue Mosque are in walking distance and their domes and minarets can be seen from the rooftop. I really enjoyed my stay here. The owner and the front desk agent were so helpful with everything. The hotel is clean. The room had hardwood floors and a tiled bathroom. I think the most interesting aspect of the experience was the street on which Gul Sultan is located. At night the street comes alive with all the noise affliated with bars and people having a good time. In fact, it was noisey past 2am. There are so many other American English speaking tourists around and all the merchants and businesses catered to their needs very well. I would not recommend this place to a family seeking quite and refuge from the bustle of Istanbul, but I would recommend it to young adults or people 40 and under who want to have a good time and be in a safe, clean and well maintained place.
Airport transportation can be arranged by the front desk, internet service is great, breakfast was good..

“Value for money and centrally located”

This hotel was a deal ! The location is awesome, its near to the Sultanahmet tram station, and the lane is full of other hotels and restaurants which are open till late night. Sultanahmet is 'THE' place to stay in Istanbul and we could visit a lot of places nearby because of its location. Places like Hagiya Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Museum, Spice Bazaar, Grand Bazaar etc are at walking distance. You could also walk to the sea and take a ride on a boat when you want to !
The hotel has free internet, and very good and courteous staff. It also had complementary breakfast included which was average.

Room Tip: Do bargain

“A brilliant find in Sultanahmet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 April 2011

The hotel has small rooms but extremely clean and quiet if the rooms face the back (don't know how it is in the front but from what I could see they are larger). The ratings are high and reflect a budget travel.

The good - prices (the best we could find roaming around), very clean rooms and bathrooms, location in Sultanahmet, friendly managers, free Internet (patchy reception on 2nd floor).
The bad - No windows in the back room! breakfast has literally nothing - we finished bread baskets with butter and cheese but we didn't expect anything the low price so can ignore or simply eat elsewhere. I see pictures here of the terrace but we had a closed terrace probably cause of the weather. if it is open that would be a plus.

The hotel is worth it since hostels charge you similar or higher rates. If you plan to spend all your time roaming in Istanbul and coming back only for sleep or breaks it is a brilliant place. Managers are friendly (look stern but that is just a look) so you can get a good price depending on timing.

Room Tip: It is a steal and worth it.

“Instant coffee in Turkey??”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2011

We chose this place based on budget, location and more-or-less good reviews. We didn't expect anything exceptional, everything was as said: very supportive staff, good location, room is OK. But please, why are you serving instant coffee for breakfast? That's a shame, for 35E room rate.
