“Clean and close to the old town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2011

We arrived by shuttle from the airport as part of the Turkish Airlines booking – a free shuttle and free accommodation for one night. The welcome was warm and the service was good. The staff helped me with some Turkish words and were very encouraging. The room was spotless and spacious with a view. The air-con did not work properly, but I opened the window. The en-suit bathroom was clean. The clean, white towels were of good quality. Breakfast is VERY substantial with a buffet with fresh fruit and juices, pastries, breads, salads, vegetables, soups, hot and cold foods, cheeses, yoghurts – YUM!
There is an excellent sweet pastry shop around the corner. The hotel is a stone throw from the tram line, which I took on recommendation of the hotel staff. It is easy enough to buy coupons. I travelled several times on the tram to the Spice Market, to the opposite coast, to dinner, to a hamami, and to the Grand Bazaar. The highlights were my Turkish bath at the Cagaloglu hamami (what a treat!) and the visit to the spice market - where one can buy tea, sweets, coffee, pastries, etc. And make sure to eat at the world famous Pandeli restaurant at the spice market. Restaurants are good, street stalls are great for fresh juice, tea or Turkish coffee & pastries. Everywhere people helped me to acquire more Turkish words and phrases – so friendly and welcoming.
I loved the central location and extensive breakfast!

“Good location, surly staff, ok rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2010

Like many others, I stayed here against my will - when Turkish Airlines sent me there. I can't help thinking that this might color some of the reviews below. I found the hotel staff surly but not to the point of being insulting. The food was OK - the breakfast buffet was good. The rooms are fine, clean, comfortable and quiet. The location is good. The light rail is right outside the hotel and in 3 or four stops you can be in the tourist centre of Istanbul.
If you are looking for a budget option and can get a cheap price (well under $100) it's an OK option.

“Adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2010

A Turkish airline delay caused me to miss my flight to the US and they paid for me to stay the night at this hotel. One reception person spoke English well enough to communicate what was necessary. The room was nothing special, but adequate and clean. The hotel is not near many sites, but the neighborhood seemed safe with quite a bit of non-touristy shopping available very nearby. The public transportation system was within 1/2 block and likely would have taken you wherever you may need to go. Since this stay was unintentional and only overnight I did not futher explore that option.
The breakfast buffet was very extensive with coffee, tea, juice, two soups, many cheeses, cold meats, cereal, jams, pastries, bread, eggs, potatoes, and a few other items that were supposed to be warm. My only real complaint would be that the staff in the breakfast buffet area seemed less than pleased to be working there and the food items that were supposed to be hot were cold and most items that were supposed to be cold were warm.
There is quite a bit of traffic in this area, but once I closed my window the noise was very minimal. Overall an adequate stay, no real complaints.

“No complaints!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2010

Goodness, what was all the fuss about? My friend and I stayed at this hotel and had NO complaints. The breakfast buffet was extensive - from soup (?!) to scrambled eggs and everything in between. The room was absolutely fine - not the Ritz, granted - but then we didnt pay Ritz prices. The bathroom and shower were adequate and we had no complaints about the staff. The aircon wasnt particularly effective, but then we were on the 4th floor so just opened the window! This hotel is right between tram stops, although we walked into Istanbul each day; there is a little bar down the street a little towards Istanbul which had a live quartet of musicians playing turkish music and the staff were both friendly and welcoming; as two ladies travelling on our own we thought we might be hassled, but we found everyone absolutely charming. GO! Its a great city. Dont miss Vogue restaurant for the views, or a traditional Hammam for an amazing experience. We loved it!

“Never stay at this awful hotel...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2010

We missed our flight because of Turkish Airlines' postpones and they settled us down to this hotel for two days stay. First, the hotel room was older than my great great grandma. Next, the bed felt like sleeping on top of a stone and last they said every meal was compansated, yet they didn't allow us to drink a cup of tea...only water was allowed...Don't stay at this hotel..it doesn't deserve even two stars and the receptionist was rude.

Whoever misses their flight was sent here to suffer I guess...so watch out..
