“Avoid the dungeon”

I stayed here in April 10 and booked 3 months in advance specifically to request a room with a view. I was given a room in the basement at the back of the building, mostly below ground level with a strip of window at the top of the wall, with a view of peoples feet passing by. They could also easily see in.
The wall was badly affected with rising damp.A really revolting room!
Breakfast room at top was pleasant with beautiful views.
As it's not possible to book a nice room I would not stay here again.

Lindy E Aust.

Room Tip: The upstars room facing the water would have nice views.

“Very Good”

This is my first ever review for Trip Advisor.
We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of December and were very pleased with the location.
We had a large double room on the top floor, with views of the Bosporus. There is no lift, but the stairs were no problem for us & the staff brought our cases up to the room.
The breakfast was excellent value and served just next door to our bedroom.
We were made to feel welcome, slept very well - although all visitors should be aware that wherever you stay you will be woken up by the 'Call to Prayer' so take some earplugs.
I am reluctant to say anything negative about this hotel, other than it can be a little tricky to find when you first arrive.

An excellent value for money hotel and one that we have recommended to many friends.

Room Tip: Ask for the double on the top floor, you won't have far to go for breakfast & you can enjoy...

“Right for the likes of us”

The décor is tacky and wi-fi’s provided only in the tiny lobby, but comfortable beds and an excellent rooftop breakfast make the Peninsula a good budget choice in the generally pricy enclave between the Hagia Sophia and the Bosphorus shore. We paid TL100 per night for a double.

“Excellent location and very friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I stayed at the Hotel Peninsula in November for a couple of days. The location is great, as it is only a short walking distance to a lot of main tourist attractions on the European side. The only downside is, that there are many mosques very close by... and call for prayer quite early in the morning!
The staff was very friendly and helpful (especially Beris) ; the room was small but cute and very clean! They serve you a small breakfast and real turkish tea in the morning, and believe me that's all you need, too many delicious things to try when you walk around Istanbul- you don't want to go with a full stomach!
If I visit Istanbul again, Hotel Peninsula will be my first choice!

“Excellent Location!”

I stayed here with my sister late December 2011. The location was excellent, a short walk to restaurants and the main attractions of old Istanbul. I would recommend it to anyone looking for budget accommodation the staff were very friendly and helpful. However, a warning, there was a mosque right outside our bedroom window, the call to prayer at dawn was exceptionally loud. We were disappointed with the breakfast, it could have been fresher.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not right next to the mosque
